I downloaded from tac link from ea. It went in fine. Changes the bf2.exe file. Size stays same but date is now. I have both bf2.exe and bf2*.exe . After patching bf2.exe, i deleted bf2*.exe, copied patced bf2.exe to other folder where i renamned it. moved that back to proper folder. deleted previous renamed bf2.exe . Tried both bf2.exe and bf2*.exe . Got NIS popup asking whether to allow net access to bf2.exe as well as bf2a.exe. I said allow always. Tried account name and password from bf2 account login popup. Got same message for both files from account log in screen after a minute saying "server access denied." IN MY OPINION THEY HAVE TO DROP THE ACCOUNT VERIFICATION CRAP AND STAT RECORDING. LEAVE THAT TO INDIVIDUAL SERVERS LIKE BFV, BF42, FA, ETC... HAD WITH NO WHERE NEAR THE NUMBER OF PROBLEMS AS THIS BF2 LOGIN AND STATS LAG. THEN I BELIEVE THE GAME WILL RUN MUCH FASTER ONLINE FOR MANY MORE PEOPLE LIKE BFV AND BF42 DID/DOES. Let high paying servers decide themselves if they want their own stat recording software like FA. My attempts with logged in registered EA website name tha tworked before got me to their forums. When I tried to post this problem and suggestion igot white screen from them. hmmmmm. very well said steveo. the part about kidding around or exaggerating to make point is not always obvious when not in person using body language.

Possible "play on words" = "here" ? What amazes me about them is long ago we thought it meant supernatual messages. Remember not to look at it without approved blockers. People have fried their eyes because the hot infrared rays are weak but damaging uv rays are still there.

Well. Some people rotate from time to time to different sports, for variety. Most sports games have been around for long time. Just not the same people always playing them.

Then check used game stores.

Reinstall some older games you used to like and haven't done for awhile.

Thanks to Klink for mention and TigerHawk for posting this faster link for play feature : Mine 2 I haven't laughed that hard in a "long" time. Furthermore ... Don't undo your seatbelts yet, i know I sometimes "run on a bit or byte", but this was a very well done piece of work of many people that is a credit to all who enjoy video games and real-player interactivity team-work and laughs. I expected to only get 5 mins into it before "bailing out without a parachute", let alone the whole 20 mins falling off "exit stage right", from my chair. The humorous use of audio, voice and team work that kept changing to something new and well chosen as entertaining, was seen by me as someone or some people that definitely have great talent at how a game or movie should be. Playing in that type of environment with lots of interactive environment and funny apropriate audio inserts would keep me or almost anyone struggling to stay in their chairs laughing and enjoying it no matter what their results in the game. Edit : Trimmed the "excess" off. ;-)

A permanent same min/max page file setting would be preferable at start of drive, like older speed disk would do if you set "no slack". With slack set and swap set for win control it logically assumed best to leave it after all files. 2006 speed disk has none of these options. Does terrible job in my opnion after comparing for few days with other defraggers. I found that Diskeeper is good if you have swap set zero and disabled, becasue it faster then others and does better job of consolidating big game files together. But it still leaves some unconsolidated free space. So, I found with these free demos, it's best with Abexo as followup defragger. With no swap still, run diskeeper few times. Then fire up Abexo and enter options to manage system files. Upon it finishing work after 2 reboots, DON'T WORRY PC MAY SEEM UNRESPONSIVE FOR LONGER THEN USUAL, check and you will see 99% of free space after swap it has put in for you after all files. Granted it sets swap as win managed. But now with it showing after all, no big deal to rest swap bigger. Either Diskeeper or Abexo hel pfile told me that SWAP MINIMUM should be 1.5 TIMES the RAM, in proper amounts like 512, 1024, 1536, 2048, etc ... the MAXIMUM should be 3 TIMES the Ram. I just finished THE 10 TIPS OF TWEEKING FOR BF2. All I had before was movie disable. It sure took awhile doing this tips carefully. I just finished testing BF2 in my usual single player Dalian corner for max fps test same as all other tests. (console, renderer.drawfps 1) (0 for fps off or they stay on even in multiplayer). Results were same in corner = 15/66. What surprised me was when I moved out into 6 my team seing 6 enemy, instead of dropping to 10 fps like it used to, it stayed at 15/66. More surprise testing it online in 60/64 player server showing server ping of 70. I got in the game in 1.5 minutes instead of the usual 2-3 minutes !! Furthermore, despite occaisional "bits" of lag, 4 players with pings 150ish and sometimes 200ish, every else and me showed in tab screen as around 50-70. Well, my fps showing when I glanced up under heavy defense and attack, (12) moving around in my field of vision, WAS A GREATLY INCREASED 25 FPS !! Go figure. I figure those tips helped improve single fps 50 % when busy. But online busy, with mostly good pings (70), 100 % FPS IMPROVEMENT ;-) Thanks. Sorry I didn't take the great time to try them sooner. ;-) I'll still get lag I suspect from internet and too many high pingers. But nice to see such improvement. "The 10 tips of BF2 Tweeking" DO HELP. Be very careful with the registry edit part. TigerHawk and I have been sharing the same bf2:sf software download key installed in both pcs here. She found one laying prone under the "Tananbaum" from Santa Klaus. We're wondering does she have to uninstall sf from the pc she uses, then install from her cd ? Or is there a place or places to change the cd key in the registry ? She's put it off for fear that even uninstalling, rebooting, deleting remaining folder/files, cleaning registry, rebooting, installing off cd, redoing big bf2 patch, then incremental patch ... may get errors ?

Ask in all chat if admin playing or looking at who in there with hlsw. They can change map to any in the available list.

Reminds me of the Mech Warrior series of games. I enjoyed them way back then. May it will be nice for a change. I liked the Mechs that could fly.

Ok. But it's possible something in "the blob" is incorrect for a specific server info.

Sorry to hear that. It's been a long time for me troubleshooting this software. I seem to recall it's safe to find somewhere in steam folder a file with extension .blob . Delete that and I recall it will reset and probs go away for some people. But since your prob just our server, it may not help. As to why just our server, all i can think of that may be different is ping ? Maybe you getting bad connection that is failing to send verification data on you ?

We abstain since our low-end pcs need low pings and night maps lag more. Enjoy what you can where you can. In other words, TigerHawk and I are not "frequent fliers" so don't deserve consideration. We wish you that can, lag free challenging team work. :;-)

I had to really push Tiger in there with me. She said no one there so why? I kept reminding her that it's about advertising. people don't check empty server or one, me. Butt you and me plus Xfire may draw some in. We drew a few, Tanks.

I checked. Looking like some unbelievable stuff to me. Butt fine if ya can get into more "unreal" stuff. if they allow low end pcs to do it okay, maybe. But I tired of games saying minimum requirements that even when met still lags online.

thanks to all for their negative and positive feedback. as said before, upgrading your pc and/or tweeking it may or may not help ... tigerhawk and i have done lots of testing with our below bf2 req' specs ... and we appreciate seeing results and pc details from all of you ... it is clear that that the real problem is internet ping more then having questionable hardware ... because our lame under bf2 specs hardware has performed without lag when in server of around 70 ping and all players in there also showed similar pings to us ... so your probs may be not your pc but your ping to a server and it's players ... it's a good game, i questioned them directly last summer ... the response was the game was pressured to come out as soon as possible so it was not possible to take many more days or months to include options of less resolution and map details then offered ... despite it putting heavy demands on internet bandwidth ... they tried to answer public demands for team voice and more team help stuff from complaints of BVF... My guess is they did good job considering being rushed by sponsering companies to get it out asap, before another company came out with something that might reduce their sales ... BIG MISTAKE in my opinion because taking more time to allow lower res and detail settings in my opinion would have allowed mega more people to play it without the frustrations of net lag and wasted hardware upgrade costs . I repeat it is great game. But to include all of "we the people", it needs allowance for less details resulting in less pc and net needs.

Good points from all. Thanks to Seth and Gator for long detailed points. I agree with both sides of the argument. It's a good game. It needs really good systems and/or net connection to all in server. The only beefs I can think of at moment that seem legitimate are : 1-being able to give up an unlock you feel was not helpful, for another new unlock. 2-take time to add in to game code lesser resolution options, allowing many more people to try to enjoy it online. I see people having lag probs that have well within needed specs. So I guess the game is pushing demands a bit. But I also figure, besides detail options in maps, it's because the progammers listened to complaints about BFV. One of which were audio team talk was not there in BFV. Making harder and less enjoyable trying to help organize team flanks. So they added that, atleast for same squads. Adding the Commander further put needs on pcs and net speed to server and it's userers' pings to you. So I guess I'm not totally knocking it. I think it is good attempt that just leaves some of us behind with lesser pcs or net pings. Personally, I'd like to see ability to talk on mic to either whole team or squad. Bottom line : Less resolution option would have allowed more to play it online without lag and more enjoyment. The complaints about crappy teams are to me just like rolling the "DICE". "It" happens. Put up and try to make a differance or find better teams elsewhere.

Future. omg. "May the force be with it." Lasers ? Weird imaginary weapons and vehicles. Hmmm. I bet it lasts 6 months most.

Thanks. I found and disabled swap and rebooted. But neither "fix-it2000" or winxp defragger after multiple attempts seem able to defrag free space, let alone just files or all. Anyone got link for good free defragger ?

I did the punkbuster adjustment in online game from console with pb_sleep 500 ,enter key. Then still in console, to save it, pb_writecfg , enter key. I dunno if change would effect right away in game, there was some lag loss. Maybe coincidance. I finished map and exited bf2. I'll go back soon to test again. After that test and game closure I'll try renaming bf2.exe to bf21.exe . I still can't find where I once reset winxp swap file to none. To reboot and do slow defrag so i can re-enable swap and have it all together. Maybe i can't find that setting becasue i have xp set in that area for max performance ???

Hmmmmm. Thanks for sharing the "vents". I feel less "alone". I like BF2 when it works online. Which is most the time for my older pc IF i get in server with ping well below 100 and no high pingers to me in there. Might we try in future to get away from EA ? Sierra got or coming out with anything inticing soon ?

Thanks. Good tip on remembering to rename bf2.exe before patching. I've yet to try any of those tips other then i have start movies disabled. I guess i must now try those other tips. problem is i can't remember where to find where to reset swap file. paging executive ? background programs i think i can mange by closing showing icons near clock and checking msconfig. some of us need to be told how to do things, not just what you changed. ;-)
