January 19, 200718 yr Hey guys. I just want to see how people feel about the awp in css. I know that all Armory servers have run their servers with all weapons enabled etc. But as grossly overpowered and over used as this weapon is in this particular game. I want opinions of possible server setups.
January 19, 200718 yr mark, seeing as we ran our server with no AWP for so long you know where i stand. I'm actually surprised to see that its 3 to 0 in favor of no AWP, but im sure that will probably change. Just to let those who don't know about the AWP yet......it will kill you in one shot even if you are hit in the foot....

January 19, 200718 yr yeah, but nothing in FA comes close to the lameness of an AWP. People complained about the famas, but you needed to have atleast some "skill" to use it, the AWP is completely skill-less.
January 19, 200718 yr I disagree Wellsy. The Armory has always been about "If it's in the game, use it." The Armory used to have a CSS server. All guns were allowed and it was just fine. The AWP is easy to use, but a skilled player can easily kill an awper. If the AWPer misses one shot then you get free run on them for a second, enough time to move on or to take em out. Plus the AWP is hard to use in short-range situations. The FAMAS in FA was pinpoint accuracy no matter what. Even on full auto. At least if you are moving with the AWP it makes the accuracy go way down.

January 19, 200718 yr They made it "Toe Shot and you're dead again"? Last time I played, limb shots hurt bad, but they weren't fatal... but it has been 2 years since I played last. I'm sticking to our policy of "No weapon restrictions". However, if you want to stop "awp rolling" (the exploit of using fast weapon switch to make the awp fire faster), I'm behind you 100 percent.
January 19, 200718 yr I think the bomb timer can be turned down to maybe 30-35 second, we were playing yesterday for a while and 45 seconds is an eternity. I used to play a game called Socom II for playstation, people complained so much about "noob weapons" and such it made the game unfun. I pretty much agree with what everyone else said, if it's in the game use it. But, I did find a server where the limit changed based on population. If it was less than 10 it was down to 2 or so, as population grew the restrictions came off.

Well when you are AWP'd and you have to wait 5 minutes until the next game/time until you are AWP'd again. Either Disable it or limit it to one per team. This is no M82 here people. The AWP can hit your hitboxes like nothing else and you dont even have to be on target. Whereas the Scout is "If you are off by a pixel. You miss". It really destroys the game play and since you have to Win to get money to buy better stuff. It secerely handicaps the team that looses 2 rounds in a row. This is way different than Firearms where you can buy the same equipement and die and get the same equipmement again and again. Worse than the Famas by far!!! As far as the people that say let it be. Wait till the server gets populated by the people that have been playing nothing but CS:S for years. You'll change your mind real fast. My son's and I have played on the skilled servers and the AWP'ing is ridiculous. It takes the fun out of the game. No one here has the skills these guys have except for a select few. Dont believe me. Search google for the top CAL team websites for CS:S and find their servers. When this server gets popular as it should. It will go from fun to ridiculous. Thats my 2cents

It's not the weapon that bothers me (much). I personally think it should be limited to one per team. if not that then completely disabled. I rented this server for enjoyment and quite frankly the awp removes that enjoyment. especially for thos of us who arent that experienced / skilled at the game. and are just playing to hang out with fellow (=A=) members.
January 20, 200718 yr Basically in most games. If a dude or dudette has that gun. You just select that gun the next time you respawn and go after them again and again to destroy their camping/tactics. After a while when enuff people do the same too as far as selecting that weapon to counter that weapon, the M82/Famas users for example, the game eventually ballances itself out with the other weapons availible. This is not the case in CS:S since you must purchase weapons. You can get into a game and be on the loosing side and have to deal with the better weapons right away and have no cash. Anyway. Whatever the majority decides is fine. But Too many awps really ruins the fun of the game. For me.
January 20, 200718 yr Well if we have the AWP restricted to one a side, then it's still can be used but not everyone can use it at the same time, but it's still being used as part of the game. For me I'm not very good at using it so I wouldn't bother getting it much.
January 20, 200718 yr Last night we were playing and some of the guys requested 2 awps per team, it seemed to work well. Maybe they can give that a try for a little while.

January 20, 200718 yr Thanks DR. I have actually played CS:S a bunch online and on my Lan. I am speaking from my point of view which others may not agree with. I am like Tigerhawk and do not AWP but I like to use the Scout/Deagle combo. I can hold my own with most people its just that the AWP is just tooooo easy. Way tooo easy. I think what it boils down to. If CS:S was like FA and DOD:S with respawn capability. It wouldn't matter. IN CS:S Since you have to wait after you get AWP'd over and over. It makes the game not fun spending your free time watching instead of playing.

Agreed if CS:S had respawn like FA & DOD:S then it wouldn't matter but because it doesn't it does become annoying being killed by AWP all the time and have to wait 5 mins to play again just to get killed by the AWP.
January 20, 200718 yr Well as a seasoned CSS player myself, I think that the AWP is not all that bad. I see where Mac is coming from though, and it is really stupid when a whole team has AWPs. Come to think of it I would actually like to see a 2 AWP limit per team. I think that 1 is not enough. I rarely use the AWP myself. I do, on occasion, just because it is a fun weapon to use and really makes you fell the power! RAH!
January 20, 200718 yr After reading what everyone else had to say, a 2 limit doesn't really sound that bad. Would actually make the game more fun.
