I think I finally figured out what happened. Just before I stopped playing, I went to my audio settings and started playing with them. When I was messing around in there, VOIP got disabled. I don't know if I clicked it or if changing the other settings disabled VOIP. In any case, I enabled it and voice chatter is back on now. WildRegret, disabling that option in the audio menu disabled incoming and outgoing chat, so maybe thats what happened to you as well. Now I have a new problem... no server I connect to is under 150 ping, I never see the Armory servers, and all of the servers I connected to this morning were foreign. I couldn't understand anything. Funny story about a foreign server. First time I saw a goliath I started shooting it with my pilum. My squad leader started shouting, "SHOOT DA BLUE TEAM! SHOOT DA BLUE TEAM!" Me: "We're the blue team" SL: "NO! SHOOT DA BLUE TEAM" ME: "THATS US!" SL: "NO I SAY SHOOT DA BLUE TEAM" Me: "WE'RE THE F'ING BLUE TEAM!!!" SL: "NO NO NO DA BLUE TEAM ON DA SIDE OF THE GOLIATH" I think he was trying to say "blue thing"

Yeah, it works pretty much everywhere except for inside maps in the game. It even works in the mic test in the setup screens under the audio options in BF2142.

I did a quick search of the subject but most of the topics I found were back from January. Anyway, I stopped playing for a couple of weeks because I picked up UFO: Afterlight and UFO - Extraterrestrials. Recently, I've gotten back into playing the game but now voice chat doesn't work. I used the advanced search with the voice chat enabled box checked. None of the servers I get on now will let me use my mic. I also never hear anyone else talking. When I press 'v' I don't get the green talking icon. I checked BF2142 setup and 'v' and 'b' are still my push to talk buttons and the mic test in the setup screens work. Was this disabled for some reason while I was away?

A few people have reported that they have to uninstall as well as delete the directory to get it working. If that is the case, it sounds like there is a problem in the EA Link cache (if it even has a cache). I figure just do it all to ensure that its wiped.

Awesome I just reported two people. Have screenshots to back me up in case they ask for them. This makes me feel better, I've had a BAD 2142 night. 1. On Atlanta Deathhouse, NOK clan server. We have them almost destroyed and our shields aren't even down yet. The server mysteriously restarts. 2. Next game we have 5 silos and we're winning. They kick 5 people from our team, autobalance is off. They end up taking back the silos and winning. 3. Change servers to BoC and woo hoo get a glitcher, got mad and left 4. Joined another server just before our titan explodes 5. Next round we got beat fairly badly, but Jram kept killing me on one side of the titan and while I lay dead on the floor i see one of his teammates running in. Eventually, I didn't have an APM down and they got the console. Later on, after all 4 consoles were down he was killing us inside our reactor room. We were pretty even, but that put them way ahead. Thats when I finally got the screen shot of him 6. Next round was close, but they won fair and square as far as I could tell. We were doing well with silos, and their console 1 was guarded by 5 or 6 supply guys all tossing nades. I ALLLLLMOST got past them with my camoflage when one of our guys started tossing smoke grenades, but one of them saw me and chased me to the console Racked up 4 losses tonight. I'm NEVER going to get the 2 to 1 ratio required medals Oh well, I've got other ones to grab. I should probably give up on it or start a new guy cause I'm at like 1.05 to 1. I guess thats not bad considering a month ago I was .75 to 1 cause I used to be a major league point whore. I did have more fun that way though, now I'm all super stressed out about winning. Edit: Ok, I feel better now. I have been striving for a 2:1 win/loss ratio thinking I was going to have to win a LOT of matches to get it. Well, I just compared myself to several other nice looking profiles and I compare much more nicely than I thought I would. I'm not nearly as worried about it now (and I shouldn't be worried at all... its just a game!)

What is the best method for reporting a cheater, and what does it take to get his account reset? I have a screenshot, with name, of someone glitching. [sUCUR] mguima69 is his name and we were on a BoC Squad server. He admitted to it in chat but it scrolled by too fast for me to get a capture of that.

I'm having an issue where NOTHING but the trailers shows up. Everything else is just plain white, blank.

Yeah, I didn't think about it like that... but my little exercise in stat padding quickly racked me up almost a dozen losses in one day. I was just mad yesterday cause I was actually winning a conquest map (which I'm currently I believe 3 for 25 ) and I got moved to the other team

So I was just playing BF2142, conquest map (which I hate) and we were doing well. I was on the defence team, 141-91 points and we held all of the flags. Looked as though winning was inevitable, it would take a major reorginization of the enemy to pull out of the situation. And boom, I crash. I load back up and rejoin the server and it puts me on the other team. I got mad and quit, I hate autobalance but understand that it is necessary. Normally I would have played on through but a few weeks ago I have started pushing for wins over points. So, is that going to be a win, a loss, or nothing? A while back I was experimenting with wins and losses and how they count, and the best I could tell is that if you quit a server before the round is over and the team you were on loses, it gives you a loss. I racked up about 10 disconnect losses in one day (purposefully) but I'm still not certain as to how it works. Must you be in the game for a minimum period of time? Must the game be resolved within a period of time of you quitting? I don't want any more losses, my ratio is finally above 1 :thumbsup:

Hey guys, I have a lot of fun on your Titan server, hate conquest personally, and to date I havn't even play all of the conquest maps yet. If you guys start recruiting let me know because I'd like to join. But anyway, I have to vent somewhere. I don't remember what server I was on but I had just spawned and taken silo 4 and I was sitting up on a vantage point and I kept getting messages that I was getting team killed. Perhaps someone named "You" kept getting himself killed but why would it show up in white on the bottom of my screen? Anyway... later when the enemy shields had gone down I dropped my squad beacon. Died shortly later, and respawned. Squad Pod fell right on top of an incoming friendly transport and I wiped out the entire group. Ended up with at least 3 TK Punishes. Can't fault them for that, and I don't. But I apologized and at least one of them noticed my apology and explanation. Maybe 10 minutes later I'm tossing massive amounts of smoke grenades into a corridor, and I get a TK punish? WTF? So, we get down the corridor and we take out the console, move up and take the next console and get into the reactor room. I'm lying down at the entrance to the reactor room shooting up a sentry gun when some ass hat stumbles all over my back trying to get over me and I shoot the stupid **** in the ankle and he dies. We were seconds away from the core getting blown up and the stupid **** steps in front of me, dies, and then punishes me. THAT is what pisses me off. Stupid people who can't WAIT to see "YOU PUNISH NOGGIN001 FOR A TEAM KILL" Last night, I'm driving an APC and I see some guy jump off a ledge and land in front of me. The APC is far from maneuverable so what happens? I smash him while I'm braking. The ****er punishes me. Also last night, I'm sitting in a tank and some moron comes flying around the corner in a buggy and smashes into me. WOO HOO!!!! I got TWO PUNISHES for that. Don't ask me how many people bail out when I'm in the air transport 3 feet off the ground when I'm obviously landing and get smashed just so they can punsh me! I saw someone get into a trasport, guy #2 runs right up under the engine. He had plenty of time to stop and go the other way, a couple seconds at least. but no, he runs into the engine just so he could press his Page Up for teamkill! I chewed his ass out for that one and ended up getting kicked. I guess if you can't get positive points, you can always try to move up in the rankings by giving negative points.... When I get TK'ed, I NEVER punish until I am less than 5 seconds from respawning. If I see it happen and I think it was an accident, I don't punish. If I see an apology I don't punish. If I get revived, I don't punish. Even after all of that, I often don't punish. But, anyway. When I first started playing I didn't want to squad up because I didn't want to make any one else's squad suck, nor did I want to follow orders until I learned everything, so I played a long time solo. What does that mean? I was almost ALWAYS on the losing team. I did that for about a month. So here in the last two weeks or so I've started working on getting wins, not points. So do I care if some schmegma head punishes me for a TK? Not really, I'm only 4 unlocks away from being maxxed out and I never want anything that I don't already have (extra grenade would be nice though). So here we are, struggling for our next win, when some stupid kid with ADD runs out in front of me, gets killed, punishes me, and seconds from the core exploding and me getting at least the silver.... "ADD Kid punished you for a team kill" "You were team killed by some random friendly guy" oh well, he's trying to get into the reactor room too.... decline punish "You were kicked for excessive team killing" *sigh*
