From an article I wrote up (with the help of multiple sources) and submitted to Slashdot: Wal-Mart has announced that it will be soon closing its doors on layaways everywhere due to online shopping and the increasing costs of running an efficient layaway and stated that it would offer zero-intrest for six months to new customers on its own and Discover credit cards and twelve months for existing consumers as compensation for the lack of layaway. On Wensday Wal-Mart's stock had went up but after the announcement was made on Thursday its stock had went down again on Friday according to the NYSE. In midst of the corperate chaos Wal-Mart has been moving in to purchase a banking company which some fear Wal-Mart is planning to start its own chain of banks nationwide though Wal-Mart had stated that it was for the purpose of making credit card transactions easier. Though Wal-Mart has given consumers until November 19th to place their final layaway angry customers are already posting all over the internet in an outrage against Wal-Mart's actions as carelessness, having no sympathy for the consumers and threating to take their business to other major retail outlets such as K-Mart or Target. As a response K-Mart had seized the opportunity to tell everyone about their offering of layaway services for nearly fourty years and would continue to offer layaways in 1,300 of its 1,400 stores in spite of Wal-Mart's recent business move. One of the reasons I went with eVGA is because they have a reputation for having a very flexible warranty, they also have a lifetime warranty like BFG. I'm also very satisfied with my eVGA 7800 GT OC, it performs well and runs cool, in HL2 I can get framerates as high as 120+ stock with all the options maxed out and thats not even in SLi mode!

Are you telling me I can upgrade to a 7900 GT for only $50? The only thing I forgot to mention is mine is a 7800 GT OC, it comes pre-overclocked and has a copper heatsink.

Nvidia EVGA 7800 GT PCIe 256 Mb After I bought mine the 7900 series came out like two months later :thumbsup: I was going to go with ATi X800 initially but since my motherboard has a nForce4 chipset I decided that I better go with Nvidia plus I didn't know if ATi Crossfire would work on an nForce chipset. What kind of performance do you get? I was thinking of getting a second 7800 GT and running in SLi then upgrading my processor to an AMD X2. On the otherhand I could just trade in my 7800 GT and buy a 7950 GTX *drools*

Yeah I became inactive for awhile and got kicked off the clan and then when I came back TA was playing Counter-Strike: Source and at the time I didn't have a computer that could run it and then you guys went total Battlefield and I haven't had the money to buy it, a lot of people told me to just Torrent it but seeing as how I want to be a cop I find it rather hypocritical to do something illegal like that besides the fact its illegal in the first place.

Now you know why I hate people with a passion... because they are too stupid at simple logic. With this hatred for mankind I always wonder why it is I want to be a police officer.

Also on a side note Drummer asked me about my HLSS program thread: I don't know anything about why its doing that and I'm not sure where the source code is. I could try recompiling it against the latest DirectX assemblies using ILDasm if I can't find the sources.

That is if you simply want to play a song (I assume), HLSS and HLSP use Half-Life's internal sound system to play a WAV file over HL's voice chat system. It could be possible to add Mp3 support but the CPU power would be unreasonable, thus, they would have to be converted before hand. I'll look into adding a utility to convert from Mp3 to WAV for later releases.

Hey, it's me Razor!I thought I'd mention it if anybody was intrested.I have released an alternative to HLSS (Half-Life Sound Selector)This program is significantly more advanced than HLSSin more ways than one.(e.g. HLSP supports mutible mods/configurations whereas in HLSS you can only have one mod/configuration)It is written in Visual Basic .NETand requires The .NET runtimes (version 1.1) obviously, andDirectX 9.0.Get it hereI've been using it with Natural Selection and it works justas well as its compeditor if not better.This release doesn't have any documentation unfortunatelybut I'll attend to that for the next release. In the meantimeI've included a quick-start guide below.Just some quick start instructions since the way it worksis somewhat different than HLSS.Open up HLSP and select the sound menu then click "Setup".Another window should appear entitled "Setup".Either type in your Half-Life installation directory or clickbrowse.If you've installed Half-Life in its default directory it should read"C:\Sierra\Half-Life\" (without the quotes) or"C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\Address@Server.com\Half-Life\"After you have finished you should see a box entitled "Mods".Click on the add button.
