Why Jimmy.... I was the first :o Raise your hand if you like Flashbang kills (sorry, don't have image hosting, so you have to d/l it) Bl /monthly_06_2011/post-45-130810172373_thumb.jpg
  2. Weird and Interesting... I react exactly the opposite... I expect to do poorly on the map with a lack of team co-ordination, but live for that 1 time the CTs work together... I do have to say that I have learned a lot by watching the other good players mentioned (like JIGA ) and hope that all the CT nubs will learn a little watching me... B.
  3. Hello all, I was on our server the other day listening again to the degradation of cs_compound as a subpar map. Then I looked here at the the "new map cycle" thread and saw similar comments again. As a player, I have been converted from extreme dislike to extreme enjoyment of cs_compound and would like to defend it as an enjoyable map. First, let me state that I usually try to play the more difficult team position on any given map... for example, I try to play CTs on cs_italy, since the advantage is on the T side of the map (IMHO). Therefore, when cs_compound came out, I have consistently played CT again... I feel that the T position in this map is fairly strong. It appears that most players feel the sniperfest is mostly from the T side... (please correct me if I am wrong... there are fair/poor sniper locations on the CT side, but the T side still has the advantage IMO) Since I feel that most readers will understand the advantages of the T side, I will focus on the CT side for this defense. One of the things makes cs_compound fun for me is that this is the only map that I know where a smoke grenade in the middle of a yard (or open area) is actually quite effective... pardon the crudity of this map... --------------------------------------- | / |-----CT SPAWN----| | | |/ | | | /---------------------3\-------- | --|(cars) \/ |-----| |--- | ---------- 4 \----| | \ 1 |----------| |--| | --| | | 2 | |--- | -<>------------------- | | \ |--T SPAWN-------| | |-----| <HOSTAGES> | |-------------------------------------| Smoke grenades in early game @ points 1 and 2 are excellent at obscuring the distant snipers and still allow the CT to target rushing defenders. Flashbangs @ points 3 and 4 can then blind the defenders so that CTs can hop the trashbin/fence/T-guard hut or rush the main gate... Watch someone like JIGA or Wookie when they are CT and you will see how to do this (the #2 smoke grenade takes a little practice to get right)... Once you learn this, you will see that the CT side has some good tactics and you get to use smokes and flashes far more effectively that in other maps IMO. The last few times I have played compound, CTs have dominated ... so I may have to start playing T and learn how to defend that side now :flame: I would really like to continue playing cs_compound to see how tactics continue evolving for both sides... SC, please leave it in the map cycle. B.
  4. Gossard... please man, fix this for him... after working with fatty for 4 years, if I have to hear him whine about "nerfed m60 leg-breaking"... well... he'll see leg-breaking alright... B.
  5. Thanks for the suggestions all, I will try making the files read-only tonight. However, the issue is not lag as much as it is something wrong with how H-L/FA processes sound. I'm on broadband so there should not be any issues with lag or choke, at least not this big. My PC is powerful enough that I should run at about 40fps no matter what is going on... I'll let you know, but if you think of anything else, post it for me. Thanks, B.
  6. Hi all, I just reinstalled FA 2.9a from scratch last night and ran into the classic FA/HL issue: As I recall, there were several ways to try and fix this: 1) Run DXDIAG or Windows Sound Control Panel and switch sound acceleration to "No Acceleration" 2) Switch from OpenGL to D3D or vice-versa 3) IRQ sharing between the Graphics Card and Sound Card, to resolve, re-install Win2k or WinXP in "Non-ACPI" and manually configure IRQ assignments. I tried Options #1 and #2 to no success. Option number 3 is just too much for me to go through to play FA again. Does anyone else remember this issue and possible solutions to it? Thanks, B.
  7. Happy Birthday to both of you! (Whatcha getting for your birthday?) \ B>
  8. As another challenge, Reflex 2: http://www.missionred.com/index.php?game_destination=99&game_name=reflex_2&username=unknown&game_id=2& Timing and movement... its challenging. B (For Reflex 1 & 3: http://www.missionred.com/)
  9. First, I wish everyone to note that the biggest problem those in favor of banning/limiting have described has nothing to do with the AS being unbalanced. I hear you say that it is unbalanced on maps that are... you guessed it... "unbalanced." What you should be decrying is those mappers who did not consider this issue during development. Additionally, I feel that banning any part of gameplay will likely be seen as hypocracy on TA's part. TA has gone years being the butt of jokes, taunted, cursed, etc. because of this rule as it applied to Firearms. For those that argue that CS:S is a different game, I must disagree... Firearms was harder to defend against since it was/is not a professionally produced project (Mazor et al. I do not imply in ANY way you are not professionals, you truly are to make a quality product like FA... I guess I mean professionally funded)... Since CS:S is Valve owned and operated, their budget should allow ...nay... require rigorous testing. If Valve allows it, who are we to ban it? B

Hi Jiga, I want to commend you for your post. Its gets very tiring to be criticized as a hacker when you are simply playing your best. TAC has had numerous incidents where accused individuals blew up (understandable while not acceptable). I have seen all of you play well and am encouraged to learn from it (thank you for the tips). Your response has been very mature and I think we all at TAC appreciate that quality. Thanks for an appropriate response and I hope to see you on the server kicking my ...erm... killing me again . 11. Hi All, I'm back! Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. God blessed my job search and I start my new job next Monday. Not only that, but I got a very nice pay raise which will all my wife and I to go to 1 income (i.e. we can think about having our own little TAC<grin>) So, I'll probably drop back in soon, I have to install FA all over again and find where all my models and sprites went. See you all soon, B-Cell
  12. Hi all, I was going to post this in clan-talk, but its locked.I have been gone for a bit with a little CS & DOD regression but have recently been interested in and playing FA again. However, I am losing my job tomorrow and am not sure when I will be back online.Don't worry, God is looking out for me and I am sure I will find another job. (Any prayers are certainly appreciated though.)The good news is that I may be able to get broadband and be able play from home and get back online sooner than I get onpaycheck. But, thats still in the air at this point.So... TA-SC, don't disable my account just yet :-)Greetings and Blessings,B-Cell
  13. Punisher,I have to disagree with that... at least as the US judicial system states it... You are to convict if you believe that the evidence supports the conviction beyond a reasonable doubt. I feel that often times we look at any doubt as being reasonable, which is not the case. Yes innocents have been wrongly convicted, but that is not necessarily the fault of either the investigators or the jury. Humans are fallible... the very hard dilemma we face is: the good of the one vs. the good of the many. Our justice system is here for a reason, but it is not here to only convict those who tape their own crimes. B-Cell.
  14. Yah, I take requests :-)B.
