I don't know how many people agree with me, but I'm not really a big fan of hardcore mode. It's too slow, not many people in the server, and it's just plain easy. I can kill people in one burst from my m16 from long range, it doesn't even really take skill because i'll just hide in a corner and shoot people that I see.

 

I can/will argue that it, in fact, takes more skill to play the regular mode than hardcore mode. You can still die in a split second in regular mode but there are more people on the server, which means more people to watch out more. Also, it takes slightly longer to kill somebody so the spray and pray method that works in hardcore mode (b/c of one bullet kills) doesn't work as well. i found that after playing on the hardcore server I didn't do nearly as well in a regular server, but after playing on that regular server (and getting used to it again) and coming back ot the armory server, I was doing fantastic.

 

I don't get as many points because the game is slower, and I just have less fun overall. I can understand that if everybody else likes it more, then the server can stay that way, but then I think I'll just go to other servers most of the time because I just don't have as much fun as I did when the server was in regular mode.

 

Either way, I hope we get another server running in regular mode.

heck i'm all for it,i like some of the other mods.free for all is my fav. the only 1 i'm not so thrilled with is the seek and destroy or w/e it's called that you only get 1 life per map.

otherwise let's change it up 1 or 2 times a week.I'd be able to help out setting up map cycles or w/e is needed.

Well I meant change it back to regular mode but keep the domination. I'm also open to other game types, just not search and destroy, I wouldn't be able to stand the spawn tiems, I would get bored too fast

It would be a good idea to choose a mode and stick with it. I also hope it isn't hardcore. After playing a while I don't get the thrill behind these one hit kills. It's more like the first to react wins no skill involved but merely speed. I have no speed so I don't care for it I guess. LOL.

I'm sure hardcore can be removed, but that server will stay as domination only. We will be putting up a second server that will rotate through the other game modes as soon as we can. Whatever the majority of the people want we can do. I also prefer "regular" mode, I like having the HUD and mini-map there all the time. Hardcore mode does promote camping like you said, all people need is one shot with the m16 to drop somebody. We also need recommendations for which maps to play on which game modes for the second server, any feedback would be appreciated.

Alright, cool. perhaps you can set up a poll to decide what mode to put the server as (hardcore/regular)

 

And for the second server, take out that tiny map and take out bloc, those maps are terrible. Perhaps add some team deathmatch, domination of course, and maybe some headquarters. dont do search and destroy! Oh and add CTF when (if) they release it

Bloc is one of the few good sniper maps.

i see no reason to sticking to anything yet lets all get to play everything then decide.

i think that tiny map is called shipment and i agree - it's horrible. i haven't had a problem with any of the other maps.

Shipment isn't on the server.

I got "one shotted" by a sniper...he shot me in the foot, stupid. While I played tonight shipment was on the server, that one is horrible as is the Missile Silo one.

I have to agree. I dont have half as much fun on the hardcore as the regular. Domination seems to be my favorite.

Me too. Domination promotes more teamwork as you can see your teammates on the hud. Lord knows, my team will want to rally on me.

I just played normal last night after playing hardcore for a few days and I have to say I enjoyed hardcore better. Normal mode takes less skill, it's just a spam filled mess. Hardcore mode at least requires you to think about what your actions, considering you die pretty easily. It wasn't fun just spawning and dieing in the normal mode, it was just spam spam spam. Not fun at all.

Ditto. I played regular for hours last night with my buddies and it is fun, but Hardcore is way better IMO.

Hardcore has no HUD, you can't see how much ammo you have left and there is no mini-map except when someone has the radar active. Weapons do have increased damage which is why people die easier. It also adds a 10 second respawn delay.

you need to use cover.. you have to think about how much ammo you use, you dont get a big "OMG GRENADE TO YOUR LEFT" icon which means you have to use more than your sight when playing, you CANT bunnyhop, cause it does little or nothing, you cant strafe (which is why cossu hates it so much) cause it will do little or nothing for you, you dont have to empty 200 rounds into the guys face to down him.. (or spam the m203 like on most regular servers), you HAVE to use cover and play tactically, you HAVE to think about how you go around corners, where people might be. You can get away with using Semi auto weapons.. basically Hardcore is everything BF2142 is not.. hence cossu hates it, and whines intensely..at every given opportunity.

 

FTR, Every time i played so far on the server, it has been full.. every Hardcore server i have found, has been full, or near capacity (they are few and far between)..

 

It will all be made nice and clear when we have the population stats when running 2 side by side servers. i will evel go so far as to put some $$$ on the table and pledge a $25 donation to the armory if the regular server is more popular than the hardcore server after 1 month of playtime (judging by the amount of a single trackable stat if there is one)

This is one of my favorite things about hardcore. I can use the M14 or G3 and have a good time. On regular servers its full auto or nothing unless you want to get slaughtered every time you walk around a corner and someone unloads their AK or M16.

 

Not to mention the fact that sniper rifles actually serve a purpose in hardcore, in regular mode the snipers are the guys with 4 kills and 20 deaths; in hardcore you can mow people down, if you're aim is any good.
