I'm just posting this to see what you guys think of this.

I'm part of the Yearbook class at my school. We're in charge of gathering pictures and compiling the yearbook for the year. This year, we were allowed to come up with our own designs for the hard cover itself. I decided why not, I've got some good Photoshop experience and this would be a good chance to learn some new things, so I offered to make it. My friend and I decided to do the cover together. His part of the cover is the logo of our mascot. He drew it all by hand, then redid it in MS Paint (he's really good with it lol.)

Anyways, here is the final result that will be on the cover.

Note: this is scaled down from the actual size.

Ok, a few things that I want to say before anyone says anything. The name of the school will be imprinted on the cover by the company, so I didn't need it on the design.

Secondly, The colors used are our team's colors; Blue, Black, White, and Orange. I had an original draft that had an orange background (because I thought it contrasted and balanced better), but people wanted a blue background so I changed it.

Thirdly, This was my first attempt at a large piece like this and using vectors so heavily. I usually don't do vector styles, but I thought it would work nicely for the cover so I decided to try something new. Also, the entire picture is ment to cover both sides of the cover and the spine of the book. The left side is for the back cover and the right side for the front cover.

I just want to know what you guys think of it. Sorry for all the typing. :klinked:

thats really good looking taco. i'm also part of my school's yearbook club, but we werent allowed to design the cover. we had to pick a template and colors, that was it.

I would put the school year in the slanted and running up in the white. It looks pretty good...I just say that because looking back at my old ones some didnt have the year and after 15 or so years you will not remember either.

2007-2008 or something like that.

Just a thought.

Looks good. I agree with StateCop about putting the year on there. I looked at my old yearbooks and they had the years on there - although it was awhile ago. '93-'94 heh.

I forgot to mention this. The year is stamped along with the school name. I should have mentioned that lol.

Thank you all for your kind comments! :klinked:
