does anyone know howto get 2142 working online without the cd?

i've heard that punkbuster would prevent any game cracks from working.

I haven't had any luck getting no cd patches to work with punkbuster for the past couple years, I quit trying after BF2. Punkbuster sees no cd patches as an illegal mod and won't let you play.

 

I got 2142 using EA Download so I don't even own a cd, thats the only good thing about digital downloads.

Well, try for the heck of it. Get Daemon Tools and then setup a fake cd drive with it. Put the DVD image in it and try playing. No gaurantees.

Sell your CD version and buy a direct download...or if you want I will trade you mine(direct for EA with unlimited DL's and NS) for your CD.

well i told my cousin i wouldn't mind letting him have my bf2142 cd so he could play it.

 

but i explained to him that i might still play it for the matches and for good ol times and stuff. (he only plays on fridays and sats and im working on those days)

 

plus, its a cheap christmas gift.

my cod4 doesnt need the disk to play online but it needs it to play singleplayer

i've done some work already and so far:

1) cracks or modified .exe files cause punkbuster to think its some 3rd party thingy and it'll ban my cdkey after several attempts at connecting

2) miniimages have not been made yet

3) i do not have alcohol 120% nor do i wish to buy it >_> i haf nero and it sucks

4) i've heard using the downloaded version of the .exe file would work, but i dont know about 1.40 and im not really interested in risking it !!! i spent 60bucks on my cd

wait. How is it a christmas gift if you still want the game? That would mean you would need to have two different games with two different cd keys for both you and him. My math is correct, right?

how it works is, bf2142 saves a cdkey into ur computer registry and each cdkey is registerd to 1 account.

so i could have my cdkey in 5 different computers and all of em will work AS LONG AS they dont log on into the account while it is being used.

so...basically, its just sharing a cdkey....and account...

So then make a copy of the game.

k i figured it out

i had to disable my dvd drive so that somehow, it would think the image in my virtual drive was a legit copy of the cd.
