Posted December 10, 200717 yr Change of Command I hate to be the bearer of bad news. Issa's leaving the leadership and head programming position of Firearms: Source. Issa has been a great guy to work for, and it's his vision, leadership and dedication to the Firearms name that has brought us this far. If it wasn't for him, we would not be here working on FAS today. In fact, I cannot even begin to overstate his contribution to this project as the development lead and head coder. While he has stated that he'll be available for code support and will continue to be a member of the FAS Team, he has left me, Hitman, in charge. So, a little about me: I've been active in the Firearms community for many years. RC-1.0 shipped with one of my maps officially included back in 2000, and I was accepted onto the FA Team by Berzerker during RC-2.4 for level design, test server administration and webpage construction. My previous mapping work for Half-Life 1 includes sd_durandal and cti_supersixfour, among others. After Half-Life 2 was released, I joined Firearms: Revival in late '04. That mod later changed names to Incursion and I dropped out of the development cycle shortly thereafter. In 2006, I was contacted by Issa to bring my Source version of Durandal to FAS as a FAS-exclusive map. I agreed, and was later accepted as a full team member. My current mapping projects for FAS include Durandal, Juarez, Asylum and Basic Training, as well as one undisclosed map still under construction. As you all heard earlier this year, we brought Incursion onboard to help speed up production, which has since brought the effort to bring the Firearms legacy to Source full-circle. Being a member of the original (pre-2.6) Firearms Team I can assure you FA is in good hands. We are doing everything we can to protect the theme and feel of the original game. If it's FA-like violence and slaughter on the Source engine you want, well, that's what you're going to get. I know losing Issa is a setback for development, but make no mistake, we are driving on as hard as ever. Since coming here, I've been shocked at the rate of progress being made despite the high number of tasks assigned per individual. This is truly an amazing crew to work with, and it's going to show when we release. On that note, if you happen to be a talented weapons modeler, skinner, character modeler, mapper or sound artist, we're looking to hire you. If you want to come work for us, please register on the forums and send me a PM with some examples of your work, or you can e-mail me directly at hitman@firearms-source.com.
December 10, 200717 yr man i forgot all about f-a you mean to tell me there are people still trying to make a source version.Wow is all i can think to say.I know like 4 yrs ago that sounded like a novel idea but you do realize sooo many new games have come and gone. It's hard to even remember what f-a was like anymore. I highly doubt anyone is really at the edge of their seat awaiting this "new" mods arrival. However i'd like to send a great big keep up the good work to ya'll :klinked:
December 10, 200717 yr I'm with k_t. I've been waiting but I'm not going to be waiting my whole life for FA:S to be made. A person can only wait so long. I have so much going on in my life now that I don't have time to sit at my pc and say "any day now, any day now, any day now it will come" I do wish the FA:S team all the luck to get it done. I do miss playing FA, but those days are gone forever but the memories remain, and the movies that people made :klinked:
December 12, 200717 yr I don't want to be a jackass but I don't even know what you're talking about. I know it's a game but don't recall EVER hearing about it or what it's like. I guess I was playing Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon when this was big.

I guess I was playing Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon when this was big. no i doubt it more like 007 or somecrap. The game firearms was from a long time ago it's the game our clan started on.many here used to play the game and love it.However it ran it's course and then decided to make a source version of it to try to make the game come back to life.It may have worked 'cep well it's taken soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long to even get as far as they are that most of us who were holding out and honestly waiting for the release have most just given up and forgotten.
December 12, 200717 yr Only the VERY die hards will be playing I think if it ever comes out. I was a die hard FA guy but have lost interest in this soap opera.
