I believe after patch 1.4 my BF2142 stopped launching. I've tried the Speaks' fix and have reinstalled the EA downloader. I've reinstalled the patch and the downloader keeps telling me that it has not been installed. The patch log shows no obvious errors. Basically I'm more than capable of just reinstalling everything or figuring it out but just don't have the time to screw around with it - plus I've got COD4 so who needs BF2142. So someone give me an excuse to bust my ass to fix BF2142. Or make a suggestion and I may just load the game again. I've posted a poll.

I'm getting a smiliar error with my copy. After I patched to 1.4 everytime I load up BF2142 it still tells me when I log on that "A new patch is available". And I get virtually no servers on the server list. I haven't tried to fix either since I've been in COD4 so much. I just reinstalled my OS so I'll see what happens when I reinstall the game.

yea....1.4 broke my 2142 as well. I can load and I don't get any errors while connecting to the master server. It is just as soon as I try to join the server the whole thing crashes to desktop.... Which is a shame. I did enjoy playing it.

Mine was exactly the same Merc - no launch, no errors, nada. I tried the deletion of the radial file and the other fixes, but nothing worked. I simply uninstalled, reinstalled, and patched with a valid 1.4 and I'm good as gold. (Just remember to save the controls.con file to make life easier when you reinstall).

I say can it. I enjoyed my 2142 for a while, but now I just don't. The fun factor isn't there for me anymore.

2142 is boring because no one really plays anymore.

we all started with bf2 and as much fun as it was we died out from it, same with 2142.

 

cod4 since most of us have rank 55 I noticed alot of us are slowly getting bored with it.

'tis how it always goes,the one's who have the most time to game go crazy nutz-o when the new games come out then by the time everyone is finally hooked and really into a game the one's who already put 100 hrs are bored and start looking for the next game.

 

Then they find one and play it alot and try to get people into it and when they do again thier sick of it and quit playing it to look for the next game.so right now we have memeber still on 5 games ago that haven't caught up yet,mean while already people are becoming tired of the newest new game.

Nooooooooo I really enjoyed playing 2142 even though i almost had 300 hrs playing it lol oh well time to move on to other game like Halo 3 FTW lol:D

Extremely unlikely.

I havent had any problems since I installed the patch except for when I hook up to the Armory server. I can play for a little bit then get disconnected. Come to find out everyone on the server has been disconnected. Like the server has crashed. Wonder if there was an issue with the patch that was put on the server. I have played many other servers without a bit of issue. I enjoy BF2142, and have met a lot of great people there. Such as ya'll Hey by the way, Happy Holidays!!!

Well I got off my ass and somewhat fixed it....

 

I created a new account in Windows Vista 64 as an administrator and the game started working again. Something is wrong with the older user's security profile I believe. However with the new account I am now getting kicked from the server due to punkbuster. I'll be back to COD4 for a while I guess.....
