Posted December 13, 200717 yr http://www.gemaga.com/2007/12/12/over-1800-in-video-cards-to-run-crysis-on-very-high Wow, triple SLI 8800 Ultras is what it takes to max this game, and even then you only get 37.9 FPS. I can understand crafting a game to challenge the next gen of hardware, but this is a bit stupid.
December 14, 200717 yr What's cooling those video cards? I had 2 8800GTS and they overheat because they sat to close together not allowing enought air into them.
December 14, 200717 yr are you seriouse i though people were maxing out the game with 1 or 2 gtx just fine.

January 4, 200817 yr My computer is cooled by a beer keg line to a tapper installed at my desk. The trick is to drink enough the line stays cold.
January 4, 200817 yr Check this out! You could play with two of these. http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/images/articles/1199396117RddjtJdk0Z_title.gifGeForce 9800 GX2 Exclusive Pics & Specs NVIDIA's yet-to-be released 9800 GX2 in the "flesh." We reveal some of the specs and what should be expected. The best way to think of the GeForce 9800 GX2 card is as an 8800 GPU that has been die shrunk to 65nm and placed in an SLI configuration in a "single" card. The 9800 GX2 is very reminiscent of 7950 GX2 of days past. (And we loved the 7950 GX2 at launch, but terrible support and diminishing returns soon painted it as one of NVIDIA’s biggest failures since the 5800 series.) The GeForce 9800 GX2 will launch in late February or early March as it now stands and will replace the 8800 Ultra (single GPU) card in NVIDIA's high-end product line up. The 9800 GX2 is said to be at least 30% faster than a 8800 Ultra. While it is not clear from the pictures below, we are told it will support "Quad SLI." http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/images/articles/1199396117RddjtJdk0Z_1_1.jpg GeForce 9800 GX2 Front http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/images/articles/1199396117RddjtJdk0Z_1_2.jpg GeForce 9800 GX2 Back GeForce 9800 GX2 1GB Frame Buffer Two PCBs Two 65nm GPUs Total 256 Stream Processors Total All of the information here comes from sources overseas that we consider trustworthy. Obviously there are some specifications that could be a bit more clear, especially on the memory bus. We would expect to see two 768MB frame buffers per GPU here, but that is not what is spelled out. We are guessing 512MB per GPU currently. Should we learn of any changes and/or corrections we will certainly update this page and inform our readers on our daily news page.
January 4, 200817 yr I've seen similar discussions many times. I kind of side with the group that says this is a very, very, very good thing. Think a moment about the different options. We have a console which cannot be upgraded until the next console upgrade, so all games made for that console are limited by that console's performance. We have games that are made for the PC, but can be run at all max settings by most every computer. Lastly, we have games that are very demanding on your system, and will take a bit for technology to catch up. It is the final option that makes PC gaming what PC gaming is. Games SHOULD be ahead of their technology. That's what sets PC apart from consoles. A console will have a heart attack if it tried to run Crysis, but PCs can run it! How long until consoles catch up to be able to run Crysis? For computers, it's just around the bend to run it on for a reasonable price, but I know for certain that consoles aren't anywhere near it. I, for one, support more releases like this, where we must wait for technology to catch up. Just my $0,02.
