December 19, 200717 yr hey Merc How were you able to use that large of a file for your avatar? Privilege of rank.
December 19, 200717 yr That's bs. The computer is not dead. I keep reading the same thing in different places. The only advantages that a console give you is price and long life. The graphics cards and processor never change so you can only work with the limits. You can't make a game and wait for the technology to catch up you can only make a game for the technology. And a mouse and keyboard beat the crap of hand held controller. Maybe the market is getting smaller but the same thing that happened over the past three years will happen, the pc will lose market share, then people will realize that they need computers and that consoles suck, then the buying frenzy will start all over again. It happened in the early 2000's it will happen again. If game manufacturers abandon the pc gaming market then their will be no performance increase in graphics technology then we'll all be stuck with that sega console that never made it. Then what, board games I doubt it. Stupid future forecasters.
December 19, 200717 yr If you skim this story I posted http://www.thearmory.cc/forum/showthread.php?t=21910 This will keep ANYONE from wanting to use a console in the future its getting so structured with all the legal issues and rules them wanting total control over anything you do .d/l ,upgrade use more than once, NO back ups .. even if you own 2 consoles they destroy the old one when you upgrade. After I read that no way will I buy a 360 anything in the future
December 19, 200717 yr The problem with crysis is that unless you had a top end machine good luck playing it well. Hell, even these top end machines ran it just sub-par. People wonder why the half life series does so good, and a good part of it is the engine is so accesable to everyone (and of course its just an amazing game). Not saying that crysis was a bad game, but this is to be expected with system requirements most people don't have.
December 19, 200717 yr Author I love PC's - the whole console controller thing sucks..... Long live the KB/Mouse. Good point about the upgrading of the graphics. I bet that you'll see consoles that will have that feature in the future. Then they'll start looking like PC's! LOL.

I bet that you'll see consoles that will have that feature in the future. Then they'll start looking like PC's! LOL. I completely agree, there's nothing more aggravating than trying to play a FPS on a console controller. Consoles are quick and easy and usually always work which is a big bonus. On the flip side I would challenge any console to run crysis, it would bring any of them to their knees. I guess it all depends on what its worth to you. The problem I see is that developers will be hesitant to develop for PC exclusively with such low turnout, and lately we are seeing a lot of big games developed for console and then released on PC. This severely handicaps the development of a game into something a console can handle i.e. smaller levels, lower viewing distances, less graphic quaility. The more heavy games like crysis that can show the true power of the PC the better, but its just a matter of getting the support and the money to develop them. I wonder what COD4 would be like if they didn't have to consider console limitations when they built that game.
December 19, 200717 yr hey Merc How were you able to use that large of a file for your avatar? mR T lol:) 100 by 100 pixels or 585.9 KB are the max that can be used on anyone avatar. his is only 100x75 and 482KB so it beats the max req's by along shot.
December 19, 200717 yr a person with no status here only is allowed 19.5KB lol not 585.9 KB I tried the 100 x 100 size but it still wont accept a largr file than 19.5
December 20, 200717 yr PC is always the way to go it requires more skill instead of just using a controller. U have to use a keyboard and a mouse/joystick improves eye-hand coordination i think:confused:
December 20, 200717 yr the only reason why crysis and u3 flopped is because there are simply more popular games out right now that other people are busy with (WoW, HL2, CoD4, and so on) AND because the hardware to run it is simply insanely expensive at the moment. once the prices drop in the next couple of years, PC games will become more popular, since more people will be able to afford it. With consoles, you dont need to upgrade your vid card or ram, because it's already in there, and the games are made specifically FOR the console's hardware, unlike with the PC where games are made for hardware that isn't even OUT yet, ffs.
December 21, 200717 yr True, I think the computer industry has been trying to drive up demand for new components by upping the specs needed to run new games. Their gamble has driven people to the consoles. Maybe that was their intention all along. It would seem console people buy more games than PC in a calendar year.
December 21, 200717 yr Alright - I've got to say, in all honesty, the 360 is just a better deal over playing a PC. I played PC games for about four years, and still do from time to time, but the 360 the brief amount of time I had it was just easier to use and it was much easier to go over to a friends house and play his game in Co-op or whatever you wanted to do. First off, the 360 is about a fourth of the price a PC that can run Crysis is. - I've watched Crysis on high, Call of Duty 4 on high too, and I honestly can't see a diffrence between it and the 360 version, maybe if you use Vista, but that thing is so horribly created and takes such crazy specs to use I don't think the average consumer uses it anyway. - I know Crysis isin't on the 360. - The 360 is much more "Pick up and play" than a PC, anyone can use it, and you don't have to deal with the whole "Install/uninstall" thing. - I'm upgrading my computer for the first time in 3 years, I've been busy with my new love, "Speedball" (Paintball) and school. Lots of it. - Hi guys, I know I haven't been around in a while, anything new? - The end, lets play some Call Of Duty 4 sometime once my new stuff is hear and I can run it!
December 22, 200717 yr true about the console being easyer. But well i can use my pc for so many things! Like work or school... I got msn, yahoo, email, ... So yea PC is way more all round. That and without the pc there would be no console games So well i gues i am a PC freak but really i love it a lot more then my console. (got a Wii, what is a great thing but eats batteries and lacks games atm) That and games on a pc are cheaper then on a console.

Well, the ten bucks you save on on games, unless your a very avid gamer, won't equal out to the hundreds it costs to get a good gaming rig. And you can get computers that can run IE, use Windows, etc, and the 360 for less than a gaming rig... -------- ALl this aside, I still play PC the little I still have time to play instead of my PS2
December 22, 200717 yr I do have a 360 considering my main gaming computer is an HP laptop at the moment, but I don't really play it that often. I mostly play Halo 3 with friends every now an then but I only have around four games in total. I'm waiting for GTA IV to come out, besides that I really don't plan on getting much else. This is a launch 360 by the way, I've never gotten the red lights of death considering it's well ventilated and doesn't get much use. I probably just jinxed it though, when I go back to school it probably won't turn on.

But to be honest the biggest reason i dont play console is in my view the lack of good games. I am not an Halo fan. and well neither a GTA fan. I am more a strategy game fan like C&C or a FPS player and nothing in my view can beat a mouse and keyboard for a game of TF2 or any other shooter

December 23, 200717 yr That's a pretty stupid excuse not to buy it, one person's complaint story really isn't going to effect the millions of other owners out there. That guy in that article was trying to find something to whine about, come on now, give it a rest once and a while.
December 23, 200717 yr There is so much to complain about vista, norton, how viruses can cripple your rig forever, etc, that that is not really a good arguement. What sharp said, I guess.
