I know ive talked to few about this and i know it might not change since i dont put money to the server, but ide like to see if we can change the Hardcore server a little.

 

1. Can we take out Death cams? I know their there to catch haxers (i caught one today using it :thumbsup: ) but there are other ways to catch them. i dont know if there is an option to have just admins use them or something to catch haxers, but it seems unfair for a HC server to have them if theres snipers

 

2. Can we do another voting on what kind of matches are played, HQ and the bomb one get kinda lame. Waiting for the HQ to be destroyed really takes forever.

To my knowledge..

 

1.) Besides the reasons you mentioned, we tried running it without the deathcam turned on for a few days and most people wanted it turned back on. Since the maps are considerably smaller in COD4 versus a game like Battlefield snipers would be found pretty easily even if the death cams were turned off. Also, people spawned in random places so your not going to stay hidden for long either way. We could try turning it off if the majority wants to do so.

 

2.) Regarding maps, I know we tried playing around with many maps in the beginning and some mods just flat out killed the server. People didn't like the counte-strike style mode because they didn't like the no respawn aspect to it. I know some people like HQ because you get a lot of points, but as you said one team will always been waiting more than the other. I guess we will have to play it by ear.

Just altar you graphics settings I tweaked my config files and I haven't noticed the sway at all, and it used to bother me too.

I like search and destroy, headquarters is aggravating when you're the only one who caps points, and with domination its the same deal. Everyone wants to camp and play every mode like its team deathmatch. With search and destroy you have none of these problems and the gameplay is far more strategic because you spawn as a team and have a single objective. If you play on a 16 man server, or even smaller, there is hardly any wait if you get killed early in the round. Not to mention the fact that I've found the competition in S&D clan servers is decidedly tougher because the mode does not allow for cheap spawn kills, and forces you to use your head in planning your route and knowing where the enemy is going to be. Players who don't have the skills to survive long into a match get frustrated watching the round finish after they die ten seconds in and leave the server, this thins the herd pretty fast.

 

I look at it this way, I can play on our server and get frustrated because while I'm capping the objective the rest of my team is either camping in a corner helping no one but themselves, or blindly ignoring the objective and running around like a fool playing team deathmatch, or I could just play search and destroy on a small server and have a good time against skilled players. Pretty clear choice to me. I've tried playing on our server now that it is actually populated every once and a while and the drop in my enjoyment of the game is amazing in our server versus a pure hardcore S&D setup. I just get annoyed and leave because I don't want to be the ass yelling "WHAT ARE YOU NOOBS DOING HELP ME CAP THE DAMN POINT."

 

I'm not advocating making our server S&D, because I know the vast majority of us absolutely hate waiting even ten seconds to spawn :thumbsup: ,

and I'm sure if we did switch it no one would play anyway. I just think the way we have everything configured now is boring, If everyone plays like its team deathmatch we should just make it team deathmatch and be done with it.

Well friend that's fairly vague. What is it exactly that you did, I would really like to know.

Only game mode I don't really like is search and destroy, reminds me too much of my counter strike days. Dying from a random nade at the start of the match and then having to wait to spawn = fail.

 

 

I don't really care for the kill cam either way, hardly ever snipe.

if u turn the kill cam off the spawn time goes to like 3 sec.

You should be able to skip the kill cam.

 

 

I personally like Kill Cam, as it prevents me from getting frustrated when I get killed by some random unseen enemy. It is also a good camp-prevention tool. If a person stays in the same place and is just raking in kills, your team is going to know where he's camping.

 

 

I dont really like Search and Destroy either. If I had it MY way, it'd be a 20 Min TDM. With no more than a 5 second respawn time.

kill cam shouldnt matter weather its on or off... if your sniping you shouldnt be sitting in the same spot over and over. move around some, jeez

I dislike KillCam because if you're in a good position, people can basically track you via your KillCam surroundings. If you're sniping, you can counter this by staying scoped or quickly looking at the ground for 2 seconds, but bother are a problem.

 

With that being said, I prefer having KillCam on.

I agree... Leave kill cam, thats the way we caught the hacker last night with Dark, and if your a sniper you can't be in the same place 4ever!!! I mean, ur obviously going to be killed, many ppl know the snipers camping area. I would suggest:

 

1. take out Sabatog (I've seen alot of ppl leaving the COD server when sabatog begins) and leave TDM, HQ and Domination for a while just to see what happens.

 

2. I've seen people have alot of fun in the Shipment map, although you

 

die every 10 seconds but you kill like 3 guys in those 10 seconds.

 

3. Make it a 5 second spawn when you die or 3.

 

4. If somebody is thinking about taking the kill cam off then leave the spectating for all team players "on" and for those who don't want to spectate just to press "F" to spawn, that way we can also see if someone is using hacks.

 

5. If someone is going to try and start the servers (waiting for ppl to come in), they should stay atleast until the server is kinda full, it's been hard for me starting up the COD4 server and a bunch of us come in and after we have the server going 4 or 5 of us just leave, that makes others leave too. I know we all have other games and i'm not telling you what you guys should do or not, but it will help us get more ppl in and not make them leave. Whenever someone asks outloud if someone can help and start the 2142 server, i help until it's full and i would do that with Quake Wars if i had the game also. I'm just bringing this up so our server can be popular and start with out one of us sitting in the server waiting for ONE person to come in after waiting 40 mins.

 

Im not trying to be an a-h for point number 5 but you would feel the same if you would be starting the server by yourself.

Having the kill cam on keep people like me and bravo at bay. That way we can't take ur head off with the .50 from the same spot 5 times in a row. The ghille suits work good in this game there have been some snipers i can't find.
