January 10, 200818 yr why get a sound card when the mobo has sound embedded. sound is great on my turtle beach ak-r8 headphones. 2 reasons.. 1. Onboard soundcards use CPU clocks, thus reducing the performance of the system overall (sometimes quite noticably). 2. It is far inferior to the sound processing engines and instructions found in something like an Xfi or even an audigy 2. meaning you are very likely to get better clearer sound thru the dedicated (and on a side note, you wont sound like crap when you try to talk)
