What happen to the server, it use to be one of the busiest servers. I played on it about 70% of the time. Open slots were rare and then all of a sudden i find that the server is never populated anymore.

 

Was it 1.40 and it's annoying crashes or did the armory guys move on to other games.

 

I sure do miss playing on the armory city map server. The teams were always pretty balanced and teamwork actually existed amongst public players. And even though FF was on, the TKs were very rare. I hate the fact that pretty much all City maps servers have gone FF off just to accommodate n00bs that are frag and trigger happy.

Yeah, we've been sorry to see it die down too. that's what attracted me to the Armory in the first place.

 

most of us are playing COD4 or ETQW now and we have servers on those. we still populate our BF2 server too.

 

a few of us still play BF2142 on an occasional night but we don't have the presence now. maybe we'll pick a couple of nights to get the armory city maps server going again.

 

we're hoping when bf3 comes out the community will come together and play one game.

The problem is with a ranked server you have to have (depending on max size) i believe 6 people to get it started

 

With all the crashes from 1.4 we'd get it filled, go on with our regular day, than 2 hours later its empty because it crashed. It just took a lot of time to get it running and than boom its down.

 

A lot of us are playing cod4 and quake wars now. Even though I do like to play 2142 whenever we get it going.

i think we do still have a bf2142 city map server it just needs to be populated.however yes not many of us play it as much these days.

a few of us still do play 2142, but late at night when we don't really have the presence to start the armory server.

I still play once in a while, but it seems lately I am too busy... Still, I will be in there.. when I find time!

The problem is the server files, If they released a stable server it would still be full to this day. Unfortunately, it's just not worth it for just to constantly get it started for it to only crash mere hours later. If EA could release a server only hotfix we could be back in business. I believe they are done with this game though and moving on to hopefully more successful things.

 

Another part was the gameplay itself, Battlefield 2 was a fresh new engine and had much more expansive gameplay. I personally just got bored of the game, the last patch also made unecessary tweaks to some of the weapons that put it away for me.

I dumped 2142 because it was not running right with EA downloader and Vista 64. Stick a fork in it....

well i still play once in a while, and Merc i havent had a prob running it on ultimate 64 off of the disc.

Is COD4 more fun than 2142?

 

I don't have it yet so i wouldn't know, but from what i hear it's frustrating because according to the comments i keep seeing, Multiplayer gets dull after a while because there is not much teamwork and it's a "n00b fest" (Whatever that means)

 

I love 2142 even with all the annoying problems that i thought for sure were going to be sorted out with time (WRONG) The biggest one was server disconnects (1.40 did more damage than good). It's a shame EA and DICE abandoned this game because it had so much potential. Everyone that i have introduced this game too, have said that it's one of the funnest they have played and they have gotten hooked on it big time. I just wish this game was developed by people that have a clue about how to make a game and how to fix bugs.

COD4 is alright, but there's not much teamwork which is annoying for me personally. Quake Wars in my opinion carries the 2142 teamwork torch and that's where you'll find me.

 

I do miss 2142 but the game is pretty much broken and we've all mostly moved on. I hope BF3 brings us all back on the same page.
