February 18, 200818 yr THIS IS A PUBLIC POLE - YOU CAN VOTE FOR MORE THAN ONE OPTION SO PLEASE VOTE FOR ALL OPTIONS THAT APPLY Regularly, I mean (you play 4-5 hours a week of, or play consistantly, ie once every week but its the only game you play). The reason i am posting this poll is because i feel (Dont flame me) that the BF2142 (and possibly the BF2) servers are dead weight.. Currently COD4 is the "hit game" along with quakewars.. COD4 has the run and gun people liked from BF series, and quakewars has the teamwork aspect. An interesting statistic for you, is that in the last week, the COD4 server has seen more activity than the BF2142 server and the BF2 server have put together since BF2142 patch 1.4 came out. so i would like to get an idea of what people still play regularly for my own interest..
February 18, 200818 yr Author i was refering to the servers that we host specifically, The reason i am thinking this is because.. alot of people ahve suggested getting rid of our server, i dont like this idea. but i dont think it is efficient to have dead weight servers on our server... there are lots of BF2142 servers out there that DO stay populated, that we could play on as and when we feel the need to, same with BF2SF, and even Vietnam, seems a little silly paying for this server if 65% of it isnt used

February 18, 200818 yr i dont really understand what the problem is . these servers dont take up hardly anything from the server box we have. are they prventing us from having something on there that you think we should have. Is it that you want mor cod4 servers or something please explain it to me
February 18, 200818 yr basically what im seeing is... as sad as it is, our 2142 server is dead. (and shotty suggests maybe our bf2 server as well) So does it save money or potential server muscle if we take it/them offline? if yes, it would be in our best interests to do so. if it doesn't do anything, then no harm leaving it there.

February 18, 200818 yr I know Im only a trial member but I play alot of COD4, just bought ETQW so I will see were that goes. I played on Veitnam the other night with a few guys and it never got packed, did have fun though. As far as 2142 goes, it's no where near as populated as it use to be, sad to say. If I play I go to other servers that have a packed house.
February 18, 200818 yr Now that I have my computer up and running, with two 8800GT gfx cards and some neat after market coolers installed, with 6 noisy case fans. Well I think it's time to start gaming. I've over clocked the cards somewhat. I'm not too familiar with SLi, so I think I still have some tweaking to do. I've only installed ETQW, slightly disappointed with the performance for the effort involved. I plan on installing TF2, new maps and other features released! I am definitely installing BF2, I'm gonna max everything out on the gfx so that I can snipe from an effective distance. I want to have fun with my new machine, so I'm gonna try lots of different games to get a feel for what it can do. Still no COD4, I gave the disk to my nephew, it still gives me a headache.
February 18, 200818 yr i say we should try running 2 hl2 servers one css: gungame mod and one tf2 just to see how well they get populated.

February 18, 200818 yr Author @speaks and grim Not so much the resources it uses, just the space it takes up - could be used for something more... profitable in terms of attrating players to the armory (2-3 COD4 servers... HC mixed, 56player TDM HC, and possibly a mod maps server?) 2 Quakewars servers and BF2/BF2SF server... There is no point holding open empty servers, when we could replace them with something that DOES pull in players, because at the end of the day, new players is what the armory is about... they keep us "afloat" financially,. and contribute to our servers.. more players = more full servers = more players to fill those servers... personally i dont really care that we have empty servers because like people said, they simply run and dont take up resources, but i do care that we have empty servers that could be full if they were being taken up by another game..

It's impossible, I often have to wait just to join one. I think if we could get it set up right it would always be full.
February 18, 200818 yr -Before we shut down the 2142 and what ever other servers...we should give it a week with a notice in the load screen that we have ETQW and CoD4 servers up...some people might make the switch...just a thought.
February 18, 200818 yr i think we are still aways off from shuting any servers down . you do make a good point Freefall . i think there needs to be a little debate before anything is done like that
