I chose to buy a classic instead, apple charging for every new update now for the touch is getting stupid. Maybe if they offered more storage I would have bought it, but it wasn't worth it to me.

ya i didnt like that they charged for the one upgrade

but it was a pretty significant one and you dont really have to you can just crack it if you want

I dont think they are supose to charge for any others

Id rather swap my music out every month and have internet everywhere I go

Plus it gives me an insentive to update my music

im ok if they charge for major updates

its like a new os for a pc

plus this way atleast the itouch improves over time

you have a choice if you want to or not

atleast they dont charge to fix mistackes

I wouldn't consider it too major, all it's really adding is support for the app store. They didn't charge for the itunes store addition. It's going to be free for the iphone again, just away for Apple to make a quick buck. They said their marketing is "different". :twitcy:

Yea apple sucks. My Zune does the trick, and my 2 gig sansa clip. All I need.

I looked at the IPOD Touches, I just couldn't justify the cost. Pretty cool and all that, but then again it IS an apple product...so...uhh. Yea.

I have a 30GB iPod like Sharp's. I like the idea of the Touch, but the capacity isn't there yet. In the coming months as SSD prices come down we should see capacities reaching 64, 80, or even 128GB! I'll wait for that.

What do you guys use to convert your video files to a compatible format?

I assume you're referring to apple vids. Who knows. I'd be more than happy to start a thread on non-Ipod vids.

Is it true u can put in games like, PS2 games, and SNES and NES games? A friend of mine says he can do it for me, but i don't know if he can or if he can ruin it. Is it really possible??

Also, i had a HUGE HD crash, how can i restore my music from my Ipod Touch to my laptop??

Is there a special program i can use(that doesn't need Credit Cards :D )?

PREM.

Mercury your avatar is so distracting it took way longer than it should have to read this thread and write this response.

1 Make sure in iTunes you set your iPod to function as an external hard drive.

2 Do not let iTunes sync your iPod!

3 In windows explorer set it so that you show all files and folders, show hidden files and folders.

4 Go to your iPod in win explorer, look for a folder called music(I think), In this folder there will be lots of other folders.

5 Copy this folder to somewhere on your computer.

6 Have iTunes import music into the program when it asks you where to import the music from select the folder you just copied.

7 Check to make sure all of your music is there in iTunes. If it is, hit sync and now your music is in iTunes and on your computer.

This works I had to do it a few days ago.

Yeah I chose to get a 80gb Zune 2 for Christmas. A friend of mine got the Touch. The touch really looks nice, but it doesnt have enough storage for me really. Plus I don't endorse Apple :D

The reason I have the iPod is that I bought it for the wife Xmas 06. She used it for ~6 months then had a falling out with the people at the health club. She picked up playing tennis. Since iPod and tennis don't go well together its been sitting on the counter for >~6 months. I figured its just gathering dust, I might as well put it to good use.

I was looking in to the Zune, the 80GB version. I just don't like that the battery doesn't last long while playing video. I don't know if a dedicated player is the way to go right now or not. I'm also looking at either the Creative 60GB, or the Archos 160GB wifi.

That's also the reason I want a multi-threaded conversion program, so I can put the Quad to good use. I bought AVS and it only supports one core. I'm gonna try the Nero recode trial and see how that goes, if I like it I'm gonna cause a stink with AVS get and get my money back. Nero is multi-threaded and is supposed to be the fastest encoder out there.

I can't go into my Ipod, my laptop does not read it like a seperate Hard Drive. But prolly I'm mistaken, what do you mean as "go to ipod in win explorer"? Does that mean go to "My PC" and go in manually, if your referring to that, i have tried that and nothing. Don't know why the new Ipod Touch i cant read it as a seperate HD, Well if u can still help me out, or someone else, spill it out pliiiiiiiiiiiiisss :D ...

i think u have to buy a special software upgrade for ur pc but not sure

everyone has different priorities when choosing the right mp3 player there is no best one

im not sure if videora is multi threaded

it does take a while but i have a ton of storage on my comp so i just convert stuff over night and have an itouch folder and swap stuff out once ive watched it

yes there are rom players for the touch

i have one fo snes but i havent installed any roms yet

ive got the 16gb and find that its a good mix between storage and usability

the internet is really easy to use and easy to read

movies are big and look good

and i have a ton of music
