Hmm...looks pretty cool. I like MMO's but I'm afraid to try some of the big name ones because I know I'll lose my life to them. :D

I might have to try this one though. Looks promising.

Warhammer is looking pretty good too I think but they keep pushing it up. I may leave wow again for AoC when it comes out in May.

i signed up to beta test Warhammer, i quit WoW so i wanna find a new MMO that i dont have to pay for

Good luck with the whole free thing. I know there are several out there I just dont know of any that are good. IF you know of any please post them I would like to get off the wowcrack too.

PvE: I played through the beginning 1-5 area. While, obviously, mobs are easy here since its a tutorial it was still a ton of fun. Finishers really spice up combat, which even when you have no combos is still a blast.

PvP is where the game shined here though (ofc, its a PvP beta). Even with the current beta only showing us some of the battleground-like areas (mini-games really) I got to see how combat works. Let me just say, well, PvP at the highest level is going to be crazy. Skilled players will be able to do great things -- and I saw it happen so many times. Combos add such a large direction to the game, and apparently you can string them together as well (although I don't know much about that yet).

Plus, finishers in PvP are so satisfying. Was in a big fight with this one guy, and at the last moment spun around and chopped his head clean off. I seriously shouted in real life, it was an awesome experience.

Balance so far seems good as well. Rangers currently have some bugged damage, but funcom is already looking into them. Other than that the only other class I think could take a little toning down is the demontologist, a few times they did some stuns/roots on me that kept me immobile about the entire time.

For the most part I've PvPed as a conqerer atm, great class.

Honestly though, this game puts any other games PvP I've done to shame. Once we get a taste of spellweaving, sieges and mass open PvP (which they purposely left out of this beta build -- bastards) Age of Conan is easily going to become one of the best PvP games out there.

I don't think I can go back to WoW style PvP after this, I really don't. Once the game is live as well, and players are higher level and, more importantly, more skilled PvP will be even crazier. Right now it seems like people are just going crazy -- most don't know what to do.

The NDA was lifted from the PvP beta, so I can talk about it now.

Expect some screenshots and videos later.

i hope they have quite alot of non pvp servers. i hate open world pvp

carebear :D
AoC is one of the games I've been drooling over since I heard of it a few years back. The active combat + graphics + sheer scope of the game...so damn cool.

i wuldnt like getting my head cut off while im killing rabbits either.

i missed out on world of warcraft but this game looks to be a blast! i like how the combat isn't based on howmuch time u've invested leveling ur character but how skilled u are.

Oh world pvp is great! I cant wait to stick a dager in the back of someones head while they try to quest!

You hit wild rabbit for 2 dmg.

Wild rabbit hits you for 6 dmg.

Warning: You are in critical condition! Status effect: rabies

Tazer Cop Appears!

Tazer Cop lops your head off for instantaenous death.

You die!

Wild rabbit shudders! Status effect: fear

Tazer Cop steps on rabbit for 10 dmg.

Rabbit dies.

You earn 2 exp for partial dmg to rabbit.

world PvP > all. Instanced PvP sucks.

agreed

Oh and Nad, you and Jairyn made me die a little on the inside. GG, QQ.

I actually pre-ordered this game the other day. ^.^

Might cancel it 'cause it was a Game Stop preorder and I think ordering from the AoC site delivers quicker and has the CE.

Still wondering if I should get the collectors edition (CE) though.

Well I got the big ol shaft!!!!!!!!!

I paid for a year of Fileplanet after clicking on their big popup about getting in the AoC beta and after paying I click on the page to get my key. What I found after clicking on the link to get the key it took me to a page saying it was CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They took my money and other than having some crappy download service I got the big SHAFT!

I WAS SO PISSED!

Well, since you are a man of law. I'm sure you have used this line that Fileplanet used on you.

Prepare to get F'ed by the long d''k of the law! -Superbad
