Sports Betting anyone?

Featured Replies

If this kind of thing isnt allowed here, sorry, please delete this :D

My bro told me about this site, CentSports.com, where you can gamble on sports for free. This is possible because you only get $.10 to start out with, and you have maximum bet amounts, so it would take a while to make any real money. But if you are good, you can cash out eventually and make money for doing nothing.

If anyone is interested, please let me know. PM me with your email and I will send you an invite, because if I invite you then when ever you make $$, I get 5% of what you made (this doesnt subtract 5% from you though :D )

So far I have made a WHOPPING $.25!! I usually just bet on totals because I dont follow the sports being played right now.

By the way, you can bet on Baseball, Basketball, Arena Football (maybe NFL when the season starts, idk? and maybe college too?), Hockey, UFC, and pretty much all the Soccer leagues (not just U.S.)

No betting on formula 1?

Maybe Ill get started once college football starts. Not many sports im into now

But I do like to bet with friends when I get a chance it adds some fun to watching sports.

Oh I just realized, you just sign up and when we add each other as friends, we both make money from each other.

You may want to take a look at the Federal statue about bets by wire. Since it is over the internet it is considered by wire. I will have to look it up but if the place is inside the USA there could be a problem.

That is how poker playing sites get around it. They also use satelites to get through a loop hole.

I would not do it if it were me.

Sneaky you state code for simple gambling is 13A-12-21 which is a Class C misdemeanor. There is a sections in there that states there is a defense for a social game in private. I think that is just related to private card games at home though.

As for the federal side I know the Organized Crime Control Act of 1970 made it a federal crime and added gambling to the list of crimes which would authorize a wiretap. I just think I would stay away from this ...with you making money from others placing bets it could be argued that it is part of a business (granted it may not be much money).

I just think it could present a problem if you got caught up in something bigger than you.

oh wait, I just looked this up on their FAQ:

"What makes CentSports unique is that we're actually legal. Currently you can't run a gambling website from inside the U.S. This site is more like a fantasy-football game ... we give you a small amount of play-money to start out with ... you make bets with this, just like you could in Vegas ... but, again, you're just betting with 'play money'.

However, if you do well enough ... i.e., if you win enough of your play-money bets, we'll actually let you 'cash out' your play money for real money ... and maybe other stuff like t-shirts, CentSports gear, etc."

"The project started in response to last year's Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (which, shamefully, was officially termed the "Security and Accountability for Every (SAFE) Port Act of 2006" by congress ... look it up on Wikipedia). That bill made it illegal to use any online betting or gambling site that you could deposit money into, effectively shutting down all such sites which existed at that time."
