Okay I've uninstalled and reinstalled my 2142 and still can't update the newest patch. It gets to 99% and then says update failed. I even tried going into registry and wiping out everything, still nothing. I'm really getting frustrated with EA. Oh and now a new problem has arisen. Under EA download manager, when I try to install 2142 it comes up with a bunch of installation errors. Any help will be appreciated cuz EA isn't helping me.

im guessing u have deleted 2142 installation files completely and redownloaded 2142 and tried installing 2142 after deleting all folder left behind from the uninstallation, if not try that, if that doesn't work wow i'm not sure what will.

Ok depending on whether you use EALink, or EA Download manager, and depending on whether you purchased them electronically (ie you downloaded them from EA rather than having an install disc) your files will be either,

 

here

 

C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EADM\cache

 

or

 

C:\ProgramData\Electronic Arts\EAlink\cache

 

Go get the NS install file, and the main BF2142 install file and put them somewhere safe for future use.

 

Now uninstall BF2142 manually..

 

Removal of folders pertaining to the BF2142 install

 

• Delete main BF2142 folder from your c: Drive
  
• Delete the BF2142 entry in your my documents folder (Screenshots, control configs and other things are located in this file here so be sure to save the things you want. the "profiles folder" in here contains the control, GFX and other setting info so might be worth keeping this one as well as it saves alot of fartassing around with resetting controls and GFX settings.)
  
• Go to the following folder: C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information (If you cannot find this folder you may have to go to Tools > Folder Settings and click the setting to SHOW hidden folders.)
  
• Right-click the folder named {ED50ECE9-EC54-4C05-B5ED-EE4741A9F2EC} and select Delete.
  
• Close all open windows.
  
• Right-click the Recycle Bin and select Empty Recycle Bin.
  

 

Removal of registry entries

 

To edit the registry and remove Battlefield 2142:

 

be EXTREMELY CAREFUL what you delete, and ensure you only delete what is related to BF2142, screwing up this portion results in screwed up PC

 

• Click the Start button on the Windows Taskbar.
  
• Select Run.
  
• Type regedit in the text field and click OK.
  
• Click File and select Export.
  
• Name the file Backup and make sure the Export Range is set to All, It will give you the option to save it to a location, put this on the desktop or somewhere easily remembered in case of problems.
  
• Click Save; you will now be returned to the Registry Editor window.
  
• Click the plus (+) sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
  
• Click the plus (+) sign next to Software.
  
• Click the plus (+) sign next to EA GAMES.
  
• Right-click the Battlefield 2142 folder and select Delete.
  
• Back under Software, click the plus (+) sign next to Electronic Arts.
  
• Click the plus (+) sign next to EA GAMES.
  
• Right-click the Battlefield 2142 folder and select Delete.
  
• Just above EA GAMES, you will see a folder named EA CORE. Click the plus (+) sign next to EA CORE.
  
• Click the plus (+) sign next to INSTALLED GAMES.
  
• Click the plus (+) sign next to EA GAMES.
  
• Right-click and select Delete on any Battlefield 2142 folders.
  
• Click the plus (+) sign next to Microsoft.
  
• Click the plus (+) sign next to Windows.
  
• Click the plus (+) sign next to CurrentVersion.
  
• Click the plus (+) sign next to Uninstall.
  
• Right-click the key named {ED50ECE9-EC54-4C05-B5ED-EE4741A9F2EC} and select Delete.====> in the registry editor, goto edit > Find and search for this string, it will open all the correct folders for you and select this one
   
  
• A Confirm Key Delete window will appear, choose Yes.
  
• Close the WindowsRegistry Editor.
  

If there are any problems with the registry, open the registry editor as in step 1 and 2, then goto file > import, and select the backup you made earlier on and this will revert to the previous, working, version of your registry.

 

If in any doubt about what you have done, revert to your saved registry.

 

Empty the recycle bin once more, and restart the PC..

 

The PC should now be completely clear of BF2142 and now you can download the latest patch, 1.5, Install the game from either the CD or the files you moved above in this order

 

• Main BF2142 Game
  
• Patch 1.5
  
• Northern strike expansion
  
• Patch 1.5

yup that should work what shotty has posted up above, also could be where u dl the patch from the file could've been corrupted,if ya can try a diff server location, I have EA link as well and have had nothing but probs with it, I tried to dl the patch via Ea link but wouldn't go so i just went to the bf site and dl installed with no probs...

I've had no probs with EA Downloader, however I do not like the fact that I have to pay extra if I need to download it after 2 years.

 

I hope you get it going Wolfey, our server has been doing well until it crashes.

Ok thanks all , especially Shotty. I'll try it tonight hopefully. I am going through EA downloader. Unfortunately for me, I don't have cd's, but bought it online. I'm beginning to think that was a big mistake. Oh well, live and learn. Thanks once again.

I think it's all were you downloaded it from, I've downloaded all the patches from The Armory and never had a problem

I didn't download v1.5 using EA Download manager so that may be the problem, like wolf said try to get it from Armory or directly from EA, it sounds like the install file is corrupt.

Okay, I'm back in business. I did what you said Shotty and it still wasn't working. So I dug out my Registry mechanic and found a ton of errors. Fixed them and got 2142 patch to work. lol. Thanks everybody for the input.
