Posted July 13, 200817 yr Last week I started getting really bad headaches during my workout and during some rides They would come on completely randomly sometimes doing crunches, sometimes doing bench press. They always hurt in the same spot on the back of my head they come on instantly and hurt a lot. I first figured that probably I wasnt drinking enough water even though I dont drink soda or coffee and thought I was drinking enough so I drank a lot more and that didnt help. One time it started on a really easy warmup set. I've been working out the same way for about a year and have never had a headache like this before. I took a week off to just relax and hope theyd go away but no luck. Anyone have any ideas on how to get ride of these before I just go to a doc?
July 13, 200817 yr u might want to see ur doctor cuz it might be something that can be fixed with asprin.
July 13, 200817 yr drinking could of effected it, but idk how it works exactly on after effects, i would go to the doctor and ask him
July 13, 200817 yr Author u might want to see ur doctor cuz it might be something that can be fixed with asprin. Maybe you meant cant I have tried both advil and tylonal on multiple occasions and neither helped
July 13, 200817 yr It can be a blood pressure drop, blood sugar drop or dehydration.....drink a glass of fresh fruit juice to give you a boost 30 minutes before you do your work out, see if that helps
July 13, 200817 yr Take an asperin, must be acetecylic acid type, to help thin blood and dissolve clots, caffeine constricts vessels, adding to this risk, water and vineger also rumored to help, see doctor or call free nurses registry for best advice. Check pulse and blood pressure. Avoid fatty high carb foods. Take care, ask for it in reliable places without haste
July 13, 200817 yr Don't take any chances, go see a doctor, get it cleared up, might have something to do with your blood pressure rising during the workout.
July 13, 200817 yr Author I know my blood pressure is atleast normal before workouts. I gave blood yesterday and it was 120/80. It would go up during the workout so I guess I'll probably be going to a doc soon
July 13, 200817 yr Do you have allergies? Also, do these headaches affect just 1 side of your head (not just the back, but the full left-side or right-side of your head front/back)? Do these headaches seem to occur at a certain time of day/night more than once? Last, are you getting them constantly for about a week and then no sign of them for awhile, then back again?

Nope dont really have any allergies (except to poison ivy damn I got that bad a motnh ago  ) Yes just the left side. The first time I honestly thought some one hit me in the back of the head with a dumbell. I actually looked but no one was there. The back definetly hurts the most but the whole left side of my head hurts a little. They only happen when I workout. Usually its terrible for maybe 5-10mins after they come on and if I kept lifting it kind of repeats itself. Than it hurts the rest of the day and usually less but I still feel it the next day. I never had them the week I didnt work out. But when I started again they came back.
July 14, 200817 yr Ok, that sounds like something with your blood pressure then. Though if it's affecting just one side of the head, that sounds like its affecting your trigeminal nerve almost (if its reaching to the front as well). I would go see a doctor soon though.

Definately see your doctor, I went to mine when i had exactly the same symptoms, Sharp severe pulsing pain in the rear left (of my) head, level in line with the top of the ear where the skull seems to fold back under to join onto the neck. When i say severe i mean it was crippling, if any of you have broken a bone its that sort of level of pain, No pain killers touched it if i had it during the worst episode (and the one that made me goto the doctors) it brought tears to my eyes (you will know what i mean) I had a full MRI done and spinal tap as they thought it may have been a "berry anurism", basically a blood vessel that under certian conditions or even normal work swells up in the meninges at the base of the brain at the back, and pulls on the lining sending nerves crazy and hurting like hell. Luckily it wasnt for me but do NOT take the chance, as explained to me it can easily develope into a full blown haemorrage. they sent me straight to the nearest ER when i went and described the symptoms to the Dr via ambulance, and i was in overnight. It may be something simple, mine was a virus that i had in the CNS fluid, came on exactly as you described, but do NOT take the chance. (and make sure you have good medical lol)
July 18, 200817 yr Author Well I went to the doctor yesterday and he wanted me to get an MRI so I got one this morning and ill get the results around noon. And on a more important note I saw Dark knight last night at the midnight showing and it was one of the best movies I have ever seen.
July 19, 200817 yr Author well nothing majorly bad but i guess somthing didnt look right so im getting an MRA on monday
July 19, 200817 yr Good input all. Usually pains not known to be from physical impact, or stressful thinking as in headaches, are by constricted blood vessels, causing atleast partial if not total clot blockage in artery or vein somewhere ... Physical stress, mental stress (worrying too much), can lead to clots anywhere but usually in brain, with many small ones, or lungs, or heart. Pains are warning to stop what you're doing ... I feel, asap take in water, asperin which helps dissolve clots, rumor is that warm water is better then cold, becasue cold can add to solidifying of fats and oils in bloddstream ... healthier longer lasting people such as Japenese, prefer healthy antioxidant rich teas with their meals ;-) So, if you're hot, try to relax, drink room temperature water. Asperin proven to reduce clot risk. Meassure pulse and temperature and pressure. Devices are cheap now that take all those readings. Get one if you have any reason to need to know. Emergency can be far away and have long wait. Sincerely, Hogan.
