October 3, 200322 yr Somehow, I got a virus deep in windows (somehow?i dont know how). Had to reformat and start over. Now my hard drive is screwed up. I can't install things : (Guess im goin' shopping...I think it should all be fixed by Sunday-PUNISHER
October 4, 200322 yr Yeah. Just get the manufacturer software for your HD and reformat/repair. They seldom go bad from a virus. You can restore the boot sector with those utilities as well.Dont buy just yet.
October 4, 200322 yr Some bios make "low format" ; but in your bios desactive "fast load" & some option like "driver smart", format it.<--- Cos the "Boot virus" dont give you the hand to create the fat !If dont 1st solution dont works properly or works good : get the good old win 98 2nd edition & format with it : problems resolved !Last solution : get a DOS 6.22 disk, start with it on disk, type "fdisk" on the menu, choice "3" for remove principal partition dos, next "1" to recreate a new one, quit it and format on DOS mode or directely with you win xp cd-r.Egidio.
