For some reason, my keyboard and mouse freeze up while I'm playing... I'll be moving in a direction and suddenly my keyboard becomes non-responsive from anywhere between 3-10 seconds, and then everything speeds by as it catches up to the commands I've entered. Needless to say, this sticking is getting me killed unnecessarily.I don't have Steam set up on my computer right now (it looks like too much of a headache for me to deal with right now). I'm going to tweak some settings, maybe switch a keyboard driver and see if that helps.If anyone could offer suggestions I'd be very appreciative.

i dont think that is a keyboard problem, but a network problemthe speeding up and freezing may have to do with lagwhat are u using? 56k, cable, DSL?

Using DSL.Incidentally, I discovered when I switched keyboard drivers the lag didn't get quite as bad. Still not entirely sure of the cause, however.

it happens to me as well but it's been doing it to me since the last 1 or 2 cd versions...not sure what it is and it usually always gets me killed :/

That's -exactly- it. Even switching my keyboard driver doesn't help much. I keep getting that exact same problem, and/or I continue shooting even when my finger is off the trigger button.

If anyone finds the definite casue of the problem could you let me know, i'm not sure its c-d 4.5 because mine has been doing it now for a few weeks it doesn't do it all the time just every now and then i was just about to go buy another keyboard but now i think i'll wait a bit.

Unless it's HLSW... I'm not sure how many people enter the game with it installed... could it be that HLSW is slowing down every/anyone who doesn't have it installed? That would sucketh muchly if that were the case.

My son have had the same problem freeze : desactive "anti-aliasing" on opengl mode graphics card cos hl & fa dont like anti-aliasing with 800*600 graphic mode...Egidio.

How do I do that? In my configuration menu, it doesn't work. And I use 1024*768 OpenGL, not 800*600. There's no change when I switch between modes either.

Hm, I use OpenGL but no Antialiasing, so I don't think it's that (fyi I run 1280x960)And I also don't use HLSW, so that could be a problem too, but I don't know HLSW at all and how this could affect my system :?: At least I'm not the only one having this issue, very disturbing :!:

The fa game have always 800*600 resolution, but i have 1264*844 for the caracters who appear on below the left screen and the parameters of your "hp / sprint" & on your below right screen yours "ammunitions" ...This freeze is due of the update of your graphics card "Nvidia" who active by default the "anti-aliasing" mode, etc...<--- Check it.Egidio.

Is write-combining the same as anti-aliasing? I'm looking at my video card settings now, and that's all I see. I use S3 ProSavage DDR, 32mb.

New graphics card with 64 or 128 MB. is needed since FA 2.65 : my old geforce 2 with 64 MB. crash opengl & burn opengl via chip ; i must do to buy a new one : geforce 4 Ti 4200 128 MB. for the 2.7(a) version...My old 64 MB. begun to slow motions most on most before die the opengl, only direct 3d remained ?Egidio.

Never needed it since 2.65... and my scroll rates, etc. have been fine. I have a 1.67ghz processor and 256mb ddr ram, so that may even it out. But I don't think it's the video card that's causing these problems.

I forget to type that a virus who burned the opengl from my graphics card, how, i dont wonder but it burned opengl and was always never allowed by the via chip ?Now, i think, the lags and saccades it's your config have been modified by, perhaps, a "virus" who deprogrammed your win registers of your config graphics cars on the windows's pannel control ??? Try to check yours drivers from the graphics card on the same win's pannel contol... Another problem too : the auto update try to put the new drivers from S3's web site but not confirmed it try & rtry agains...Else, like me, until 1 week, the ips was on line works but have not prevented this to me...Egidio.

I doubt it to, i am playing on a Athlon Tunderbird 1200mhz, with a Gforce2mx but it plays fine, although i have only played FA on steam lately i have never even seen this problem.

well i have downloaded the full steam version(the one with CS on it) installed it, wait untill it is completly updated and than you can coppy your FA folder to steam/steamappz(or something like that)/"your e-mail"/half-life/Well that is what i did and now it is in 3th party mods if i run steam... If you want extra info, try to read the FA forums, it is all there, if you can find it :DGood luck

hmm, when I try to blast someone with my UZI, the gun fires about 5 rounds and stops then... in the meantime the other guy has killed me. I got this issue about a month...my config: ASUS A7N8X Deluxe, 2.5Ghz Athlon CPU, 1GB DDR RAM and Nvidia FX5600 with 256MB (runs with 1600x1200 and OpenGL). With this config, I think it is no HW speed problem... 8)
