Posted January 22, 200916 yr I found an old Chuck Yeager flight sim for an IBM my family once had. There was this card in it. It offers the buyer to purchase an UNPROTECTED version of the game! This is so the buyer can "get what he paid for - unresticted enjoyment". I guess they have changed their stance a bit since those days.

January 22, 200916 yr Author Just such a reversal of ideas. From "If you pay us $10 we will send an unrestricted version so you can copy, edit, whatever" to "Spore...$50...3 installs...then your SOL! (oh, and we didn't tell you about the SecuROM that installs on your computer without you knowing)" I thought about sending it in to see if they would send me something back.
January 23, 200916 yr either way, the days of any corporation banking on the integrity of the consumer are loooong gone. but i guess its only fair as most people don't buy anything unless they know the can return it or get a warranty... such is life
January 24, 200916 yr When it happened (1980/1990), it's because the protection of the disc was exceeded and did not function any more because the crackers knew how to pass in addition the protection or how unprotect the disc... Egidio.
