Well, I don't have that problem for me, works perfectly.I have some feedback to deliver to ya guys who haven't played 2.8 yet.Concussion grenade now gets you in a cuncussion. Which is pretty damn good. You just need Med1 to treat.PKM Rocks also.Frag. well, it will take me awhile to get used to...SVD is so much damn better, ESPECIALY the new model to it. Well guess the TA Server hasn't been changed to Steam yet (check main page at the top )So guess your errors are because of this?I'll try to install Steam tonight, so wish me luck

Ok let me start...I got the update, installed it and had a go at it myself through a created server. Worked fine and i was very impressed, then as soon as i joined a 2.8 server evrything went wrong, my uzi sounded like the PKM, my mp5 sounded like the sterling and kept trying to reload itself, and my sterling sounded like a M60. Then my computer has a serious error due to something on steam so i had to reinsatll xp and evrything i had on it. So for the record STEAM SUX ASS!!!!!!!!

You all are lucky, you can find the TA server. When I open steam and tell it to browse servers, it gives me 2500 servers because there's no filter option for game:firearms, and even then The Armory is not on this list of servers. When I choose games and then firearms, it starts opening a window, and then exits back to the desktop. Maybe reinstallation a few dozen times will fix this quagmire.

Looks like I'll finally have to break down and get Steam installed. Big friggin' download tho. I'll do it overnight. Then after that, I guess I'll be joining you all's steam woes. In the meantime, I'll probably play off that small WoN patch they included.

As it is, The Armory is now powered by Steam, and since I don't like the idea of finding a new server, I might as well get into Steam. I figure any idiotic things I have to do to get onto the TA server without Steam will probably be the same amount of junk I got to do to get Steam working, might as well get on Steam.I'm just as bad about windows. I got a nice Athlon 2200+ and other nice hardware, but I run on a Win98 OS I HATE XP

so if you still want to be in TA or play Firearms soon (the WON servers are going down sometime within a week I believe) you're going to have to get it

First the easiest thing to try and this may not work for everyone was to go to steam then settings and on the account tab hit log out then log back in.. in some cases that will fix the error.. in other cases such as mine programs i run to optimize my computer removed my hl registry entrys because the game was no longer installed the normal way.. so to fix this i installed the basic hl in another directory ran it once to insert the cd key then uninstalled it then rebooted and that probelm was fixed for me.. for anyone who had the problem where you did not have a user@email in your steamapps folder and read the steam faq about installing mods their solution does not work in all instances if you run regedit and look in your HKEY_CURRENT_USER then software then valve then steam folder you will see an entry that says modinstallpath then a directory.. if that directory doesnt exist create it in my case i had to make a jasun@rochester.rr.com folder and then a half-life folder inside that and install fa 2.8 to that since then i have had no problems with anything.. hopefully this will help some people.. good luck everyone

you can still run hlsw in steam i think you should redirect that path and use hlsw as your filter

 

also try to find a "friend" from ta once you have his contact use it to find out where your friend is playing(The Armory) :wink:
