I HATE THIS ****ING STEAM I reinstalled it same error along with a new one... god I hate this.*Throws tantrum* I was looking forward to 2.8.......

Why did 2.8 HAVE to go to STEAM? Why, oh WHY?!My game keeps freezing after I go into a server. Just 10 seconds after I come into one. It just freezes, and I have to shut it down with Alt-Ctrl-Delete.Wth?

I have a question can Steam raise your ping b/c b4 i was at the 70's n now im at the 350's any idea wat it might be?

Yeah thought so..... but i dont get it y did the server change to steam if half the people that play in the server have problems with Steam

If there people have a problem, maybe they can it it answered here on the forums, let them talk.

I'm srryit's just that it's like everyone is dissing...in my experiance with it...amazing program that VALVe has released...this was supposed to benefit us...and for me it is.It's like this steam is a Pentium with Windows 3.1 and everyone is forced to figure out how to install DoomIII...like...these people are makign it sound alot more aweful than it actully is...

TFC works fine but if I go to play FA, I get that

Reinstalled Steam, Installed full 2.8 not the updated one, etc a few times. Same error.

Addition: I am running Windows XP if that helps any in answering this.

it really shouldn't...I would expect with the amount of intelligance VALVe has (*snicker*) that they would make all of this completely compatible with every OS

seams like a majority on Steam Powered forums who have problems use XP,

XP was always on the unsable side...when RtCW was released...you couldn't play it because XP would recongize it's game file as a virus file...creepy stuff reallybut on this case, I really don't see how XP could screw everything up...

ok this is not trying to insult your inteligence or anything but after you uninstalled steam and all that did you delete ALL of the files and folders?i had to.i wiped all of HL from my hard drive,all of it. and started with a clean dl of everything.i have the counterstrike retail version of hl and can give anyone who has that version instructions to get a working copy of steam and fa. wiped clean out. Reinstalled half-life, steam, and FA. Same error

-sigh- me no like steam. i want to change my name in the FA options....it freezes, i get into a server....10secs later...it freezes, so far i have restarted my pc 15 TIMES. If this keeps up i'm gonna sadly quit playing FA

do you have the cs retail?

yeah i do

but steam will at least run for you?do you just have problems in fa2.8?my aim name is sneekyaggie if you got it talk to me there

oh and also just now when i try to join a server it said that the game was unavailable and to try again later, but ppl are playing in the server o.O

CS and TFC work for me but if I try and join a FA game, or start FA. That error screen is what I get
