This morning while trying to play Tiger Woods 2004, my PC locked up. This has been happening alot lately and I have been at a loss to figure out what the problem was. I got my answer after I tried to restart my comp, and after a few seconds, smoke-LOTS OF SMOKE, started pouring out of my PC. OY! What a smell too! I pulled it apart and saw a burned out resistor (at least thats what I think it was) on my vid card. So much for my Geforce 4200I. :D Luckily, I kept my old card and whithin a half hour, I was back up and running. But that was one of the most helpless, despair filled feelings ever. Anyone else ever have their comp catch fire or the like?

Yeah i had my old mobo and processor, bought a fat heatsink and, having the new bits to update, thought it would be funny to see how fast i could get the old 1.9 running, I HAD IT RUNNING AT 4ghz for about 2 minutes before it caught fire, my mobo looked like a fried egg after that..anyway fun over, i installed the new componants (shiney new mobo, gfx card and 3ghz amd chipset and fan) pluged them all in and it ran fine, shutdown and went to sleep, next morning i sat at it and pushed the on button, started up fine, post ran good, then an almighty scratch, and burning smell, accompanied with nasty noises and vibrations. My 40gig IDE hard drive scratched itself to peices, i lost about 2 years of work (luckily i had backups of most importat stucc) but it was another £200 down the toilet cause i had to get another one (yeah i know a 40gig ide dont cost 200 notes, but my shiney 125gig sata pair did)

I have lost more equipment than most of you have in your cases.Ever have a water leak in your computer before?Try fried mobo, vid card, proc and nic.Smoke is cool but it really stinks.

If you have steam in your cooler, there is a fluide leakage who fall down on your video card : it's destroy your graphics card too... Or low level of the leak.If the flow of the water dont go : pump blocked or out, your µp can die by overheating... Over the 70° Celcius or 158° Farenheit.<--- Or Far and 8 ? Egidio.

PCs and water dont mix, thats why you can never go wrong with refridgerated cooling waterless systems! (its the same as you fridge in teh kitchen but smaller)
