We have fund (my son & i) a new virus who is hiden in the computer when it run : Press Ctrl+Alt+Del (onto win xp pro) and go to look on the second tag from the left hand (processus in french) and you see the "svchost.exe" is running on 6 times... Never to stop them, never to go on the "regedit" to try to delete the corrupted win registers, never to try to run it or to delete it on C:\windows\system32\svchost.exe 12,800 Bytes : it is in sleep mode to scan the net & your working network but it do nothing other if you let it quiet ! :roll: If you delete it, i dont know what it does ? But i think it's very dangerous to delete it ! :idea: Egidio.

svchost.exe is not a Virus. Check out this article which describes what this thing dose http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314056 this file is needed by windows so don't delete it or you might end up with big big problems :wink:

Dont worry BTD it is not a virus. Most of the bad ones wouldnt be able to be found that easy anyway. Just keep your Nortons Antivirus updated and you will be fine. If you get ride of that you will have major problems with your XP.

For info, i never used Anti virus while most than 6 months ! Cos a new virus is not detected by anti virus : it only prevent old virus attack but when a virus is fund, the autor dont send it again : all anti virus are not neccessairy...

 

I know Norton since 25 years ago : he build virus for to sell their products ! 1 or 2 days after, they have "fund" the virus : spam yes !

 

Mac Affee block Norton builds, Microsoft make the same in 1 week only and some other anti virus spammer...

 

Some programs are blocked by anti virus when they try to write in the win registers : it's for that that i dont use anti virus who owned me.

PS2. I know & wonder my computer, i see when something become wrong or bad onto it cos since 4 years, i begin to wonder how it "works".

 

When it slow down, some task begin to longer or an eternity to open a web site : i begin to find the problems in the win registers on this place that virus attack...

Hey BTD true if the virus has not been added to the list it will not find it however if you download the updates every day there is a good chance you are not going to be one of the very first people to get it or if you think you are submit it to them so they can get the detection out for everyone.

i have nortons running...but i also have solo antivirus running...it caught a virus nortons didnt lol
