December 21, 200322 yr WinXP!I am running WinXP and couldnt even think about going to 98. With that much ram I wouldnt choose anything else. I am running WinXP Pro and I have 1024MB of Rambus and it runs great.
December 21, 200322 yr XP Promost stable version of windows I've ever used (and I've been using windows that I can remember was way back when, 2.0 or so I think)ran into too many issues with win2kpro, though it is my secondary favwin98 and NT4 essentially go bye bye soon, so find something recent

December 21, 200322 yr What Pys and Kami said.Go Pro and never worry about multiple computers and upgrading parts.
December 22, 200322 yr ive noticed that 2k doesnt do very well with newer tech, especially AMD. Super redundant, but go with XP, i cant even remember what a BSOD looks like. they are nothing but horrible, horrible memories
December 23, 200322 yr I run ME and get very few BSOD. I get them when I overclock too far or put a CD in that my Rom has trouble initializing. That is about the extent of my BSOD's with ME.
December 23, 200322 yr If you use win XP, i give one tip, dont make an update of your old win 98 but make a new installation with a format of of your hd to delete all old datas (but not your "documents" that you want to got = make a backup of it) else it will crash soon for the same reasons : old drivers converted in new drivers = hazardious. Egidio.
