January 4, 200422 yr Well it's always the same thing : a scientist base where there was something wrong, everyone died or turned into monsters, and you're alone to kill them all... graphics are cool sure. But no originality in the game. The first Doom and before it the first Castle Wolfenstein created the game. All others are just copy of htem, with better graphics, new guns, new monsters... but the same story. The only thing I love in the trailer of Doom 3 is the shotgun :twisted: But where has gone the machingun with its 6 canons :?: You'll tell me if the CyberDemon is still here. It was my favourite monster to kill in Doom. I remember I killed one with the shotgun only (nearly all 100 shells for it...).I would like to play a doom-like game where you got a team (in monoplayer) with you to destroy all this undeads / monsters / demons. It could be funny - and different.

And also, the Cyberdemon is like the symbol of Doom, so it will be in there too. Yeah, I have to agree...they can have the best graphics ever...in the history of game, but if the game is just a shooting gallery...graphics won't change that. id said they'd be having 'red, blue, and yellow key searchs' again (this feature has been repeated in thousands of bargin bin trash games) and that it will be a 'homage' to the other Dooms. It just kind of sounds like they're ripping off themselves

January 4, 200422 yr Well this won't change anything... the matter is that game creators have no imagination :!: do you know the sotry of the first Doom :?: it was a groups of bases on the Moon or Mars, and the Army got no news from them for a while. You were send there by the Army to investigate and you understood that the Demons had invaded those to create a diversion to enter Earth...when you came back to Earth after destroying all Demons on Hell (ending by the Sipdedemon with its machinegun), you saw that Earth was too invaded... that was Doom 2 :!: with new monsters and a the "twicecannon shotgun" (don't know if it's name in english... in french it's fusil de chase à deux canons) -----> all doom-likes got nearly the same story. No imagination. It's like for the war games like Starcraft, Warcraft... the first one was Dune 2. And it's always the same thing : 2 or 3 armies in conflict... and always the planes are the strongest units (save for Total Annihilation).SO GO STUDYING / WORKING INSTEAD OF PLAYING THESE GAMES :twisted: :!: :!: :!:or go play RPG and wargames like Demonworld / HeroQuest / SpaceHulk / Warhammer :lol:you don't need a good computer to play those games, just some good friends. But it's harder to find some than to buy a computer :twisted:

January 5, 200422 yr Yes, a real story they got. But the thing is, in Starcraft, when you've got a group of careers or battlecruisers, you've won (I remember a Protoss attaching me with 20 careers... and I got only 4 Ghosts ). That's why I don't like computer's games as other wargames. In a wargames with models, you can't have too much strong units. You're limited in percentage. In Starcraft / Warcraft you are limited too but when you got 12 battlecruisers and few Ghosts this is insane. You'll tell me that you have to crush your opponent before he gets this and I'ld say you're right. But you need to develop yourself faster than your opponent. Not always easy, isn't it ? It's why I prefer wargames with models. No base. Only units. Only the battle - and real strategy. The dies are just here to bring fun - and hasard - into the game. How many time did I see a strong unit defeated by a weak one because the dies :?: Thing that can't happened in Starcraft / Warcraft. Anyway they're good and funny games.For Warcraft 3 you're limited enough with units to avoid big wars that end only when no more ressources are avaible (or never ending battles like some I played in Total A). For that it was one of the best computer's wargames I've ever played.But to go back to Doom 3, well all is said. Just a new Doom. I'm really deceived, just as I was deceived by NeverWinter Nights.Don't listen to old "evercomplaining-because-they've-waited-for-and-seen-something-else-better"guys like me, men :twisted: Have fun playing any games you want. If you've got then fun the game is good
