DICE has teased that something pretty huge is going to be revealed this week.

The makers of the Battlefield franchise went to Twitter to tell the world about a ‘BIG trailer,’ that will be released in the coming days.

Senior video & media director/editor Randy Evans tweeted about this upcoming trailer, saying ‘people don’t know what’s coming.’

Interestingly, despite Randy Evans suggestion that the world is ignorant to the possible reveal, many are suspecting it might be the first official trailer (or at least a small teaser) of Battlefield 5 or perhaps Bad Company 3.

Battlefield is DICE’s most well-known and accomplished franchise, so it’s natural for fans of the series to reflexively point towards a possible sequel following the tweet. However, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is also said to get some new information released this week, and it could be possible Randy Evans is merely referring to that.

The only reason to doubt that bit though is how hyped Evans was in that tweet. Mirror’s Edge is certainly an attractive franchise, but it doesn’t have the same kind of massive fan-base Battlefield possesses.

So keep your eyes peeled folks, as there’s definitely some new information and a new trailer upcoming. If it’s Battlefield 5 (or Bad Company 3), then high-five! If not, well, there’s no such thing as a bad ‘BIG trailer’ (I hope).

It’s time to see if we’re really heading back to our military roots

Evans bold remarks have certainly garnered everyone’s attention now. There’s a lot of speculation that the upcoming trailer has everything to do with the new Battlefield game. This is purely based on the fact that Electronic Arts has already confirmed its plans to release Mass Effect: Andromeda, Titanfall 2, and the new Battlefield game within the next fourteen months.

Additionally, the new Battlefield installment is reported to arrive in time for Holiday 2016. This makes it prime time for DICE to start telling us about its new project, which is said to be going back to its military roots.

That being said, the trailer could also be related to the Mirror’s Edge Catalyst reboot. Earlier this month, the official Mirror’s Edge Twitter account confirmed that new details about the game are set to arrive this week.

Since Evans stated that fans don’t have a clue about what’s coming for them, a trailer for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst would be a bit too obvious. Additionally, a new trailer for a title that has already been revealed for months now doesn’t qualify as something that can surprise people.

Battlefield 5 on the other hand makes much more sense, as we currently have no details about the game whatsoever. We don’t even know if it’s even called Battlefield 5. If EA is planning to release the new installment by the end of 2016, an announcement right now will give them plenty of time to reveal more about the game.

Following a successful launch of Star Wars: Battlefront in November last year, DICE is now looking to move on to its next major project. Randy Evans, Senior Video and Media Director at DICE, took to Twitter today to tease fans about a “BIG trailer” that should be released later this week. He further added a bit of spice, stating that no one knows what’s coming for them.
