Ok referring to RAM

what exactly is the difference between dual channel arcitecture and dual channel ?

is it the same thing or does it act as the same thing?

which is better?

like on these two mobos that i'm comparing

the A7N8X-E Deluxe

"RAM: 3x DIMM support Dual Channel DDR400/333/266/200(Non-ECC) Max 3GB"

and the A7N8X-VM

they both say dual channel memory architecture now is that the same thing as dual channel?

and the ram wouldnt be a problem its gonna be Kingston HyperX Series Dual Kits 184 Pin 1GB(512MBx2) DDR PC-3500

If a board only supports up to pc3200 and you buy above pc3200 will it still work?

anyone else that knows the answer to my forementioned questions plz feel free to respond

thanks Mystik

you could've Pmed him (private message) if the question was just for him
AMD procs have dual channel memory architecture. Meening they can utilize memory info being exchanged on the rise and fall of the clock cycle so hence the name. This is what DDR does. The Dual channel mode is an Nforce capability.Nforce can utilize this feature(dual channel) to a certain degree by using two sticks of memory in sync so to speak like the old Banshee voodoos that could interlink together. Their memory controllers on the Mobo can interlace the clock cycles to work more efficiciently. I guess like a Raid array to make it simple to understand. Two sticks will not give you twice the bandwidth just increased performance to a certain degree. Two sticks of DDR is really the same as two sticks of Dual channel ddr. They will perform the same.It is nicer to get two sticks from the same batch so they sort of are like twins. Closer in age, weight etc etc. But not neccessary. The same size, type brand helps as well.In my experience Dual channel mode gets me around 10 more FPS in a Quake 3 demo. Scores a little faster in benchmaking.Does not sound like much but it can be when your are near 30 fps. I like 30 better than 20 fps.I have two sticks of noname 3200 ddr.It is 30 fps slower at the same cas ratings 2,3,3,6 than my good Kingston HyperX memory.I like Kingston HyperX and GEIL.Do not get the ASUS. It is a great board but .......PLEASE GET THE ABIT NF7-S.There are many variations of Nforce out there. Some have video on board. "V"Some have the Soundstorm disabled. Some have Everything active.Soundstorm is way better than Realtek and any other onboard sounds choice. It gives Audigy a run for the money but since it is FREE with some Mobos. It rules!!!!THE NF7-S is BY FAR THE BEST MOBO I HAVE EVER OWNED/OPERATED.You're talking like 40 different mobos too.Now they do make the single channel Nforce hence "X" for Asus.I have had luck with the Shuttle AN35N Ultra. Good and inexpensive. But for $40 dollars more get the Abit NF7-S.
