July 5, 20169 yr Ernst Udet was a very skilled flyer in Germany between the wars and ended up as Generaloberst (Colonel General) in the Luftwaffe. Here's a video of some of his flying. And while biplanes generate a lot more lift that monoplanes, his skills are impressive nonetheless. The video is a documentary on Udet and it's very long, so here are the Cliff's Notes: At 7:55 he picks up a piece of cloth with his wingtip. Then at 8:05 he turns off his engine, does a loop, and then flies sideways as he lands. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itmAdu7xsWU
