Rising Storm 2: Vietnam First Takes

So... I downloaded this and played a few rounds so I decided to give you guys a high level overview of the game and my initial impressions so here goes:

Firstly this game is pretty damned realistic. Its kinda like BF and ARMA had a lovechild. TTK is extremely low... like max 2 rounds low. It is super hardcore and pretty much requires tactical team based play. Not sure how well this will translate to the general BF/CoD players but for the mil sim lovers out there you will like the game. I ran the game on High / Ultra settings and had no lag issues at all. Very realistic sounds but was kind of disappointed that the "soundtrack" only had 1 Nam era tune, Run Through the Jungle by CCR, that plays at the beginning. Would have liked to see more good music throughout the game but hey whaddaya expect for 2x.00?

The game has 2 training areas, one for land based weapons the other for flight based weapon systems aka Da Choppahs!  I haven't tried a flight stick / Hotas yet but the mouse / kb controls are pretty responsive right out of the box. I will say that I found play a lot more enjoyable after I remapped all the keys to a BF type layout / binding scheme. The default is kind of weird.

Overall the game earns the nickname it has been given jokingly, "The PTSD Simulator". It is enjoyable but be advised. It makes BF1 hardcore look like a kindergarten field trip. If you disliked the one shot and you are dead aspect of BF1 and not being able to see where the shot came from then this might not be the title for you. There is no 3d spotting, kill cam but there is a killfeed that tells you who killed you with what type of weapon and if it was a headshot/ center mass much like BF.

You will die... A LOT! They have mixed modes, the game modes are almost exact copies of BFs game modes and they support 64 player servers. Clans can rent servers and they cost about the same as a BF4 server at a third party host (Gameservers is 63.95 a month for a 64 slot server) Basically this game is a grittier more hard core BF4 that includes all that we lost in the transition to BF1. The graphics are decent and system requirements are fairly low . If you dont mind dying a good bit and just want to play a damned fun game with quick paced but tactical play then ya might want to give this a shot. I enjoyed it a lot.

Forgot to add Roles are limited so you only have 1-2 snipers per team 1-2 "Support Types" with a LMG No medics you bandage yourself etc the majority of the players will be boots on the ground grunts. nades are limited to two and ammo is kind of low as well. You resupply at supply points as in older BF titles as well
