Someone is making a statement thats for sure. Don't think I have seen EA back down on anything before at least not of this magnitude. I dont doubt that the crates will be back. I just hope they decouple them from the class progression. Id be ok with that. I mean everyone who starts any game with a leveling system is at a disadvantage to players who have been there longer and have more unlocked so that IMHO would normalize thing quite a bit.

Apparently , it would seem that the emails I, and a couple of hundred others from the reddit group, sent to Disney's Games IP branch reached the desired people and I supposed the whole shitstorm ending up on CNN as well did not sit very well with da Mouse. Rumor is Mickey brought the smack down to town.
I saw a video about this on youtube. Pretty great that because of the community backlash they are changing things, but probably should have listened to the community in the first place.

Oh yeah like THAT has ever happened...

Well I think it is to late for BF1 and for SWBF2. We can only hope with sales and popularity both dropping for EA FPS, BF2018 in next and it is due in Oct 2018.

The entire gaming community is watching them now.

BF2018 in next and it is due in Oct 2018.

Unfortunately I think this is going to be more of the same BS we got with BF1 or worse. I've pretty much given up on EA /DICE producing a true BF Game ever again. I would love to be proven wrong I just dont see it happening with their current mindset/staff.

In a lot of ways, I to have given up on EA again. This Star Wars FUBAR should help everyone though.

I will tell you this, I will not pre-order Battlefield 2018. I will not buy premium. I won't do anything until I get answers to my questions.

Then I will make a decision. I am just curious how much bullshit EA and DICE put out and how much guessing will wait until launch before we get answers.

Given how they pooched the server situation in BF1 and did not really tell anyone about the details til launch I dont expect them to be overly forthcoming with info. I hope they learned that the server software needs to be developed in conjunction with the game and hosted away from EA's shitty data centers by competent hosts with appropriate levels of support. I doubt they have learned this and am even more sceptical that if they have they will actually change anything. This whole mess blew up for one reason only, there are a metric ton more Star Wars fans than there are BF fans and DICE/EA owns Battlefield Disney owns Star Wars. Disney's dick is bigger than ours.

Now Belgium is acting against EA:

https://www.engadget.com/2017/11/22/belgium-moves-to-ban-star-wars-battlefront-2-style-loot-boxes/

How bad is it when countries are now moving to pass laws against what EA is trying to do. I bet Disney is real happy right now with EA LOL.

They are so pissed.  This is not about a fair level playing field for all gamers. This is about sqeezing gamers for every dollar they can get. Put out a half ass broken game and make tons of promises to make it better. Then add in game purchases for better this and that.

They should just try to make a good game first. Lose the game play and you will lose the player base. Nothing can fix that once the players leave. They rarely come back and only in small numbers when they do.

At long last the US NPS sales figures are out for November, revealing just how big an impact the loot crate controversy had on Star Wars Battlefront 2’s sales across the pond. The news isn’t good, if you happen to be an EA shareholder. Battlefront 2 shifted just 882,000 physical copies during its opening month, coming in at around a fifth of Call of Duty: WWII’s opening month sales of 4.4 million.

Those are disappointing/uplifting figures depending on which side of the fence you sit on, further backing up the reports from the UK last month whereupon it turned out Battlefront 2’s launch week sales were down considerably compared to the original 2015 title. Taking into account Star Wars Battlefront 2015 underperformed by EA’s standards, and still managed to ship 14 million copies within six months, then Star Wars Battlefront 2 has to be chalked up as an underperformer for now.

It is, of course, worth bearing in mind that these sales figures are for physical copies only, so a shift towards digital in the last couple of years may have contributed somewhat to the decline.

Still, EA and investors remain hopeful that Star Wars Battlefront II’s fortunes can be turned around, aided by the release of The Last Jedi and the steady stream of additional content that will be coming its way.

“We believe that the loyalty of the Star Wars fan base, the game’s appeal as a holiday gift and the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15 will result in sales of the game bouncing back,” said Wedbush analytics.

Clearly, the handling of microtransactions in Star Wars Battlefront 2 has had a much wider impact on sales than the usual core market. The average consumer is potentially staying away from Battlefront 2 after seeing its controversy played out on mainstream news networks. DICE and EA have got a lot of work to do if they want to right this ship; it’ll be interesting to see if they can indeed turn it around.

The counterpoint to all this is that Call of Duty has rebounded in fine style after Infinite Warfare sold disappointingly last year. An impressive feat considering COD: WWII isn't even a particularly good game.

What do you think then, can Star Wars Battlefront 2 bounce back and achieve sales as high as the original? Or is the damage well and truly done, and what impact will this have on AAA games going forward? Let us know your thoughts!
