July 20, 20187 yr So I started the YouTube Channel and recorded some Rocksmith playthroughs and made plans to set up a streaming rig. All was going well toward that end and everything Kind of stopped dead. Well there is a reason why. I have, it seems, reached the pinnacle of every Rocksmith players objective, even if they don't realize it. First some back story: When I was ...oh 13 or 14 years old, yes they had electric guitars back then, I fell in love with the new fangled medium called MTV. Like every other starry-eyed kid I immediately wanted to become a guitar god and make my way on to MTV. I was well on my way one day when my Grandmother took me to the local music store and purchased a candy apple red Fender Strat and an amp for me. This was the end all be all of my young existence, that is until my mom and dad told her that was way to much money for a guitar for someone to learn on and made her take it back. I was instead given a cheap acoustic to learn on. I was crushed. Now as anyone knows cheap guitars that aren't set up are the WORST instruments to learn on as they tear your fingers to shreds when you are starting out. Quality instruments still cause initial pain but it is by far much less painful. Of course when my fingers were bruised and hurting I put that guitar in a corner and it never saw the light of day again. I kind of wish I knew where it was though. I could make it very playable now. Fast forward to 2012 when i discovered the first Rocksmith. I had made the comment when Rock Band / Guitar Hero came out about why would anyone want to play that? It would be awesome if there was a game / system that used an actual guitar and you learned to actually play. Enter Rocksmith and I was hooked. I bumbled around on guitars and learned to play some simple stuff but never really got good. Rocksmith 2014 was released and it was more of the same. I was an adult and I got decent equipment but it really was just a time killer until.... I picked up my first bass and played some metal. The power I felt was amazing! The vibrations etc just made me fall in love with the instrument and as of this posting I am nearing 500 hrs play time. I have gotten to the point where I am proficient enough to learn a song and get to the point of playing it from memory. Which brings me to why I have been spending a lot of time in Rocksmith learning tunes..... I have been asked to be the bassist for a local band! Our first practice together is next weekend and we will start working on a set list and booking shows locally. So as I said I have pretty much reached the end result of Rocksmith and if all works out well instead of RS2014 playthrough videos I'll be posting concert recordings/videos on the YouTube Channel soon! In that vein: (You might recognize the chick in this video. )
