Posted June 28, 20196 yr Looks like we're sending a quadcopter to Titan. Should be interesting. Drones invading everything from games to space now. NASA's Dragonfly Mission to Titan Will Look for Origins, Signs of Life | NASA WWW.NASA.GOV NASA has announced that our next destination in the solar system is the unique, richly organic world Titan. Advancing our search for the building blocks of life, the Dragonfly mission will fly multiple sorties to sample and examine sites around Saturn’s icy moon.
July 5, 20196 yr I assume they have taken into account the differences in Titan's atmospheric differences being 98% nitrogen with methane and hydrogen rounding out the other major elements. Also I would hope they looked at the magnetic make up as drones usually use electric motors. I dont see them using any combustion based propulsion as that would require an oxygen source witch would be heavy for a Q-Copter to carry around. Gonna be interesting to see. As much as I am a huge proponent of NASA and funding their research I would say we have a lot more pressing issues some of this money could be going towards at this time.
