NF7-S won't overclock, WTF? Must be user error (me)

Featured Replies

wow, I just got my new NF7-S board, overcame some stupid installation problems (scratched XP cd), and now I can't get it to overclock to even the level of my old KT400. I have a tbred b 1800+ jixix stepping in addition to some decent pc2700 ram (512mb). I have tried various voltages and latencies, but no joy. Any ideas?
Only 11.5 mult will work. You need better ram.2700 suxors. It will take 1.9 volts at least to get to 2300 to 2400mhz.Remember O'cing is an art to a certain degree. That board WILL overclock. You just need to know how and get pc3200 or pc3500 ramMine is at 220fsb x 10 at 1.6 volts New XP mobile 2400.Geil PC3500.

i concur, in fact you have been my defacto OC mentor. I know this mofo will OC as well, just gotta tune and tweak in an artistic fashion as you say. Ive left the mult alone, and have tried 3 3 3 6 and 4 4 4 8 timings as well as upto 1.675 vCore and 2.7 vDIMM just to to try and boot with fsb of 169 (like i used too). I dont understand why the RAM would suddenly start sucking too much to OC. perhaps Im going too easy on the voltages?

Take the ram out of the picture by giving it lousey timings.

like 3,4,4,11

Then run it at 50% of the FSB that way you know it is not the ram.

If not you know where I live.

I am sure I can get it running.

Get this ram.

I have 4 sticks. I should know.

take 2 aspirin and call me in the morning... lol Thanks for going out of your way at this ungodly hourto answer all these super new-err beginner questions. What you are saying is to cripple the ram timings and cut the FSB to half of 133 just to make sure it isnt the RAM? I wont get time to do this till Sunday late, butIll let you know how it goes.ill check out the RAM when coffers are out of the dregs
Yes cripple the ram to make sure it is not the cpu or the FSB or some other part of the system or the settings.

well, i crippled the RAM, it corrupted my sys config file and I had to reboot a couple times and undo the OC to get things to work again. I just cant get this mofo to overclock, period. I'll try a couple more times when I have more time, butfor right now, I have just made 2 steps forward and a zero-gravity leap backward. LOL, oh well, live and learn.Whatever doesnt kill you makes you stronger and so on and so forth
