April 25, 200422 yr Ok, my father and I have been trying to add RAM to an old Gateway, because it only have 64mb.We first bought (because of my Dad) some cheap PC133 256mb RAM off NewEgg.com. Well it reconized it and you could us it UNTIL you use more than 233mbs (64+256=320) of RAM. Well, we decided to buy some other RAM. We went to Office Max and got some SpecTech or somthing P133 256mb. Well I put it in and it started up...didn't find it, said that the Bank 1 slot was empty. So I ran that CPU-Z program. It says 64mbs of ram total, BUT reconizes the 256mb in Bank 1.Here are the specs.Gateway Pentium III 733mhz133mhz BUSIt is one of those flat cases, so EVERTHING is intergrated. Any Suggestions?
April 25, 200422 yr You need to get the Low density ram.The new stuff will not work in older systems b/c of the way they are made and the way the SPD sends the info to the Mobo. You need to find ram that is compatable by going to the Gateway site or for example the Kingston site.
