FA tips and tricks

Featured Replies

Guys, Im trying to practice my FA skills, and while I know constant repetition and playing will help, does anyone have any additional tips or tricks they would be willing to share concerning FA in general (eg weapon handling, evasive movement, key configs, mouse sensitivity, etc.) Anything would be appreciated.
If you would come over sometime.I would give you a direct lesson instead of being on the otherside of my gun all the time. :D :( :PHint hint.Flak needs to drive an hour and a half.
take a mp5, famas or any other fast firing weapon, aim at about the lower neck, and hold trigger down until target is dead.
oh and by the way, Famas and Mp5 as well as cqb g-36e take skill to use, especially when prone ROFL!!!!

Im practicing an hour a day so I can take my license test in a couple weeks. Probably only then will I be able to come up, I could really use some hints from the FAMAS exploi- err master himself :p Keep the tips n tricks coming, I could really use em

Even on single fire, the mp5 is both too weak and too inaccurate to even be good at medium ranges. I usually use it on maps such as force, where you are almost within knifing range anyway.

I've also found that the sterling is a good gun to force somebody into cover

I use a key-config where all the keys are close together on the key board, to avoid moving my hand to the other side of it and losing time. When firing long range, I always switch in single fire mode and crounch or prone, while I keep full auto for close. My sensitivity is 11, to react and aim fast. After you have to train yourself to aim directly at head, and shot few bullets each time at medium / long. In close you can you a little longer, but not too much or your clip will be empty. And don't take guns with a high rate of fire to start with... it's always disapointing when your clip is empty "clic clic clic oh oh where have my bullets gone :?: "then you heard BOOM SPLACTH and you think "anywhere but NOT in the enemy in front of me... oups..." but it's too late your body says "GARGLLLE"... try first with ak47 or g3a3, and then try with g36 or ak74 or famas. Oh and try to keep your self-control. Don't react quickly with fear feelings. Nothng is worst than beeing surprised and fire everywhere save in the enemy. Take your time to aim correctly and little by little try to aim more and more quickly. Beeing good in FA doesn't come fast... for all this years I've been playing it I'm still not good  LOLBut the most important thing is to play for fun, with the combo you like.
Oh I forget... always move beeing the most possible covered by maps element. If you have to move uncovered, don't hesitate to sprint ! and for reloading : reload when your clip is at 66-75% used. Example with the g3a3, which has 20 bullets in magazine, when only 5 bullets remain, reload. For guns with 30 ammo in magazine, reload when only 10 or less remain. And merge them :!: it helps :p

All right, you guys asked for it...

and here it is:

tips and tricks I have learned from playing FA for 2 1/2 years

(Sorry if the language is a bit scattered, but my bro is listening to really really loud metal music right behind me)

Also, I'm apologising to all those FAMAS lovers who may get they're hearts broken in advance.

First off:

Knife: completly useless, only use against somebody who is completly clueless/somebody you want to really humiliate. people may argue that it is the most silent takedown, but, in FA a silent takedown isn't really an advantage/worth the effort.

----------------------------------------------------------

Now that that is settled...

Armor: I have always found that I prefer using heavy armor and as much extra armor as possible (ie. helmet, arms). Helmets are always a must. Sure, people might call you a lamer, but you become about 2x as tough as somebody who is using light armor.

People may argue against this because you can only carry one/maybe 2 weapons. But, I have usually found that if you can develop a good reloading system having that other gun is unnessary.

Also, you move at the same rate with both heavy and light armor.

Lastly, By stripping somebody's armor you essentially make them really, really easy to kill. Its kind of funny how many people don't understand this.

----------------------------------------------------------

Equipment:

Concs: pretty useless, unless you really know what you are doing. If you already have bandages and have 1 more cred left, grab these anyway.

Grenades: Pretty hard to kill a person with, mostly just to wound them. One of my favourite tactics is to chuck both into a room, then charge in while the guys in the room are bandaging. Grenades can also be used to scare people. For example, in the sewers in durandal, if you know that somebody is down there, you can chuck a nade down. This will make them think twice before coming up. They also make a loud hissing noise, which makes them easy to avoid unless the throwing player is skilled at "boiling off" a grenade with rightclick (a highly recommended tactic, but practice is a must).

Nightvision: useless in 90% of all the maps

Bandages: Grab them if possible, but not on maps where there is a large supply of them.

Claymores: Mac really taught me the use of these babies. For 4 credits you basically get a free frag (if you know where to put them). Good places are areas where they aren't that visable, like in bushes that have high traffic, or on a steep slope, where they are easy to avoid. Also, placing them right around a corner can take out 4 attacking guys easily. Clays are pretty much only good in pub servers. Very rarely will a veteren player actually trip one.

You can also manually fire off clays, but this requires the patience for an unsuspecting enemy to come along. I would only recommend this if you are being chased by a group of people.

Secret tips w/ clays:

Placing one just after a buddies clay will cause it to go off when the enemy attempts to jump over the first.

If you place a clay out in the open as though you would manually trip it, you can scare the enemy out of coming into an entire area of the map.

-------------------------------------------------------

Before I get into the good stuff (weapons):

It is really, really easy to hear people's footsteps. A good player should always be able to tell exactly where the footsteps are coming from.

You should keep most of the controls in reach of one hand, with the other on the mouse.

I usually use the WSAD movement controls, with strafing instead of turning. This also places the critical buttons like bandage, reload and sprint within easy reach.

------------------------------------------------------------

Various tricks with weapons:

You have a big advantage if you are looking down at the enemy. You shoot at him, and you mostly hit his head. Even if he sees you first, most of his shots will hit your legs/torso and do minimal damage. This is especially essential for sniper rifles.

Only reload when you are either close to a buddy, or well hidden with no enemies anywhere near you. You are completly commited once you press the reload button.

Practice doing 180 degree turns, these will save your butt when some kid runs up behind you with a FAMAS.

Merge your clips whenever possible

Only prone when you know what is behind you.

ALWAYS hot-load (31 bullets>30 bullets)

There have been so many times that I have killed an enemy with that 31st bullet.

If you time your bursts so that you are left with only 1 bullet left in the gun, you cut down on about 1/3 of the reload time due to the fact that you don't need to cock the gun.

ALWAYS AIM FOR THE NECK!!!!!

------------------------------------------------------------

Pistols:

Quick note: NEVER use pistols only. The bullets are usually too small to kill foes that aren't already wounded.

1911: Best handgun in the game (IMHO). good handgun, ok reload. The 0.45 ammo also hits really really hard. Aim for the neck to kill with only about 2-3 shots. This pistol tends to run out of ammo quickly.

Anaconda: Only use in large maps. Very, very slow reload, slow ROF, but hits pretty hard. Sorta like a mini-sniper rifle. Scope can come in handy.

The two berettas: DO NOT USE!!! 9mm bullets are completly useless. I have done tests that have shown that you can empty 18+ 9mm into the chest with little damage.

Desert Eagle: I've never liked this gun. 0.50 caliber bullet that hits pretty hard, but slow ROF makes the 1911 a better choice all round. Also 5 credits is pretty expensive for a backup gun.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Shotguns:

Remmy: only use in CQB, usless at range. FYI, markmanship increases fire rate, and nomeclat. loads nearly twice as fast. This gun shreds armor quickly, but if you can spare the extra cred I would go for the Saiga because of faster ROF

Siaga: Same as remmy, though a little lighter hitting. I would recommend this over the remmy due to higher ROF

M79: Not really a shotgun, but I'll stick it in here anyway. It's a grenade launcher. Woopie. The reload it good, and the shots are pretty powerful. If you want to be good with this weapon get ready to use it for 10 hours plus before you start to know the arc of the grenade. If you have to use it in CQB (As I have on occasion) aim for the feet.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SMG's

MP5: My personal favorite out of all the guns. A very versitile weapon. Use the stealth skill to add a silencer (This really does help, believe me). Another good way to use this gun is to get marks1 and walk around using it like a FAMAS.

Sterling: I've always seen this gun as sort of like a shotgun, due to its ability to spit out rounds quickly but with a large spread area. Aim for the upper chest for best effect. This gun also reloads extremly quickly with nomaclature.

Bizon: Seen as one of the two big newb cannons, so don't expect much respect if you use only this. The 66/67 round mag means you can spray a large amount of lead for a long period of time, but again the 9mm bullet means that it doesn't pack much of a punch. Also the reload time is a little slow.

UZI: Another of my personal favs. The attached silencer isn't as good as the mp5's, but this gun is good at taking down an unwary foe quickly. It also reloads quickly, which makes it a good gun to use if you don't have backup.

---------------------------------------------------------

Rifles:

AK47: A all-round good gun, but the round lacks the hitting power of the heavier rifles. The bayonet is ok, but I would reload instead of trying to stick somebody with it. With nomaclature this gun also reloads quickly.

M16: A good gun if used with a group of buddies. Is also surprisingly accurate even without marksmanship. The added nade launcher makes it even more valuable (the switch from rifle to nade launcher is NOT instantanous, you have been warned). Also, this gun really, really sucks at CQB due to its single shot/3 round burst only.

G3A3: Almost the heaviest hitting gun in the game. When you are in the sights of this baby, you're gonna be feeling it the next morning. However, this gun is less accurate that most rifles, and its 21 round mag is pathetic.

AK74: Attached nade launcher, good ROF, good accuracy but a lower power bullet compared to the rest of the rifles. Use the ak47 if you don't need the nade launcher. Its nade launcher range is slightly less than the m79 and m203.

G36: Good at long ranges, don't use double shot, only single. This gun is also somewhat good at CQB.

(Mac / any admins feel free to remove this section)

(its about 9:30 and i'm a little tired, but I'll probably change it in the morning)

FAMAS: Oh lookie, I saved my favorite gun for last! This rifle is the most popular rifle that is used by easily 1/3 of everybody in a pub server. The instructions are simple, aim in the general vicinity of the target, and hold down the trigger until target is dead. Reload and repeat until you have the highest score on the server. There, aren't you proud of yourself?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The rest:

MG's: Generally don't use unless you are camping, with little chance of being snuck up behind. Stick to the m60 and m279.

Sniper rifles: All are good for varying reasons. M82 is really heavy hitting, is semi-auto, and has a powerful scope. But, it needs a bipod to make it usable. SVD has ok accuracy but is semi-auto. SSG has good hitting power, better accuracy than the SVD but is bolt-action. However, if you get good with the timing, you can reduce this to less than a second.

Deadeye's Top secret combos:

(aren't you glad you read the whole thing?)

SSG, Hvy armor, Arms, helm, marks

mp5, heavy armor, arms, helmet, bandages, claymore. (then stealth/marks/medic)

AK47, Hvy armor, arms, helmet, bandages

M16, Hvy armor, legs, arms, helmet

m79, (1911/anaconda), hvy armor, arms, legs, helmet.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

That's it folks. Its 10:00pm and I'm going to bed.

My secret combo in 2.5 was soooooo lame but cool :p Light helmet and arms, M16 and FAMAS fore backup, and med1 fore bandages. This ruled it all, you got a nade launcher, and an accurate (ofcourse accuracy in 2.5 did not exist, you could headsnipe a guy with a shotgun)gun with decent ROF, and ofcourse the FAMAS, huge rate of fire and almost instant kill :D
My current fav. setup (it's also a really good one :p )Medium ArmorArmslegshelmbandagesclaymoreg36e
