May 21, 200421 yr ok here goes..got my new shiney SB audiry 2 ZS platinum pro (mouthfull) and all works fine and good, my mic works fine in windows and on ventrilo, The serrings i have contain"what you hear" - basically this is anything coming into or lkaying on the PC will be played as the mic noise to users on the other end.Line in 1/mic - Will play only my mic to people listening (default setting)wave - Will play only wave files through the "output"midi synth - as with wave, will play only midi filesline in 2 - is my line in 2line in 3 - and 3Aux - Aux inSPDIF/in - CD noises through the output.CD Digital - Will play what ever my DVDROM is playing digitally. Now my problem is this.. My usual and Ok setting is line in 1/mic... but whenever i play Halflife, or any of the mods for HL, it changes the setting to "wave" meaning that whenever i press the speak button, instead of playing my mic to other gamers either in HL or ventrilo, it plays all of the game sounds (wave rich coding in HL)how do i stop this, i have tried alt+tab ing out and changing it back, only for it to change to wave again when i re-enter the game, and i cant find a setting that dissallows it to change.thankies for ur time.
May 21, 200421 yr i have the same mobo as you and an older card. i got a SB Audigy 2 platinum when they came out and so far i noticed first you must tell windows that you want to use SB Audigy not Nvidia Soundstorm. check your sound and microphone options. in game make sure you have your sam settings i nthere. another thing you may want to try is getting the newest drivers. in the past when it switched over i got new drivers and it stopped doing it
May 21, 200421 yr Author Drivers are up to date, as of about a week ago, the old card is disabled in the bios. and i am loosing the will to live.
May 21, 200421 yr lol just use the windows option to point to the SB, if this keeps going im not sure what to twell you when i get home from school an dlax practice il lcheck it out and see what else i can think of
May 21, 200421 yr Loose the Audigy (remove it) and use the onboard Soundstorm. Try it and see if that helps.Remember the Soundstorm is Almost as good.
May 21, 200421 yr Author Enter problem 2, this was my initial thought as to how to stop this happening, so i tried it and everything sound wise doest work properly, seems to be a conflict somewheresoo its wither 1 (regular no 7.1S/sound) or the other and i would rather take the other... i was wondering if there was any way to actually stop the thing happening in teh 1st place.
May 25, 200421 yr I would remove remove all your sound card drivers and try reinstalling them. try installing and using the onboard sound. and if you use an off board sound card you may have to go into your cmos settings and disable the onboard audio the offboard to work properly.sounds like the 2 drivers for the different cards are conflicting.i had and audigy at 1 time and had problems with it from the git go.i was told to switch to the sound blaster live 5.1 so i did and i have been a happy camper since. Not to mention a new sound blaster live 5.1 is only 35 bucks.
May 25, 200421 yr Does it have sound cables connected to the cdroms like on the older style sound cards? If so disconnect them. If not then connect them.Have you tried the properties menu where you can select them outputs and what they represent.? Like sub out is this and center channel is that.
