July 5, 200421 yr Ok guys have about £150-175 to spend on a PC case, (about $250-300 i think) i can get Lian-Li cases easily, Collermaster and thermaltake are a little harder to get hold of here,..... any suggestions???few requirementsSilver/blue Blue LED's if it comes with them.A wire-tidy integrated into the case, clear side panelis to fit a standard ATX PSU and mobo, and if poss a removable H/D, 5.25 inch drive, and mobo caddies... Needs some FANTASTIC cooling properties, with the 9800xt, 3200+ and other bits it gets a little warm in there, Air-cooling is a must, i have 4 available 80mm case fans that i can fit...i dont like huge chunky nasty cases, subtle and refined lines smooth edges are much prefered here
July 5, 200421 yr hey shotty i have almost same set up as you my case is metallic grey thoguh.. .but has al lthat stuff... http://www.antec.com/us/pro_details_enclosure.php?ProdID=91082 they have some that would fit what you want loo karound on their site.... the cheiftech cases are almost the same but with those yo udont pay for a name. window o nthe side is an extra yo uhave to buy... on average my case is kept about 30C on mobo and 39 on the CPU... i have 8 or 9 fans and three heatsinks cpu/mobo/graphics
July 5, 200421 yr Shotty.Buy the case.Put in a powersupply.Overclock as usualy.Record the case temps and see if it impedes your overclock. If it does. Add a videocard cooler to draw the hot V-card air out of the case. Test again.Add a rear exhaust case fan.TestEtc etc.No need to add noise when it will do no good. The likely hood of your processor biting the big one b/c of heat ( a few extra degrees ) before it needs to be upgraded is not likely.
July 6, 200421 yr I was told that 2 120MM fans usually do a better job cooling than 4 or 6 80MM fans; and are considerably quieter. Anyone have any idea if this is true?
July 6, 200421 yr Why on earth would u buy a computer case. Do something better with the money. Computer cases dont increase performance.
July 6, 200421 yr One 120 will push almost as much air as 3 regular 80's and do it quieter. If you can put one in the top of your case. Thats even better.
July 6, 200421 yr I personally like the thermaltake cases. I got one and those aren't made cheap. They are heavy duty and don't have thin plastic parts that break easy. It has 7 80mm case fans that come with it and a fan controller. My model has 6 internal hd bays that are installed sideways which makes it easy to get to cable and jumpers for the harddrives. It has lot of room too and mine has a clear window and a blue led lit Thermaltake logo on the front. The only thing I found negative about the one I got is the fans are weak in my opinion, only producing approx. 25cfm and are not blue led. Although they are weak IMO that were made to be silent. I have an order right now to replace with thermaltake blue led smart fans that can produce about 75cfm. The only other negative thing about it which I really don't care but this case weighs a ton even before adding components. My last case I could sling out with one hand. This one it take two hands and some muscle to carry it around.
July 6, 200421 yr Author well an 80mm fan has a surface area of 5000 mm2, 3 = 1500mm2,, a 120mm fan has surface area of 11000 approx, you get the picture,
