Ok, the "problem" started about 3 months ago when I heard a frightning grinding noise. FIrst thought, hard drive. Well I did a cold shut down and went to bed. The next morning I turned it on, and it ran fine, but I noticed the power supply fan in the back going in bursts. But it worked fine. Now keep in mind, this is a HP Pavilion 751n, has a 150-200watt PS. I have 2 optical drives, 1 HD, Pentium 4 1.8gh, 512mb RAM, GeForce FX 5700 Ultra. That sounds dangerous, but I had it running for 3 months without any problem.Well, the PS worked fine for another 4 months, and the burst happen again for a day then stopped. Later on I am playing WC3 and the graphics go crazy. I was like, NO, and the preformed a cold shut down. The next day, the same thing. Well, I figured the computer was overheating because my room was really hot, yadda yadda yadda. Finally I was like wait, I look at the PS fan, no movement. BINGO.Well I get all these ideas and try to reason. I have another case, gonna use it to build another computer. Maybe just move the stuff into it and use the PS in there. No, I don't want to deal with that. Soo, the next idea was, ot punch out the back edges that hold the power supply in, because this is a MicroATX case. So I did that, put it in, plugged everything up and started up beautifuly. It seems like it runs a bit faster too. It is great. The PS installed is Raidmax 400w. It came with the case for the other computer, but i put a Allied 400w in that one.
Great job.As long as it works. You can replace the ps fan too. Just open her up and replace it. Sometimes they need to be spliced in though.
