July 22, 200421 yr 1.2GHz(Advertised as) runs at 997-1.01 256mb. RAM Radeon 7500 64mb. Adelphia Broadband Motherboard: AMD Duron Spitfire Voltage: 1.616 Windows 98SE The Chipset on my Main Board is a SiS 730 but my video card is a Radeon 7500 With all that said and done would be able to work with a GeForce MX 4000 128MB DDR AGP? or a Radeon 8500?
July 22, 200421 yr al lyo uneed to have is an AGP slot... it will most likely be brown for you. and close to the power supply
July 22, 200421 yr Author I know that.......A GeForce 5200 (whether thats a Geforce 3,4,or 5) didn't work due to Voltage. I would assume a Radeon 8500 would have the same outcome.I was thinking a GeForce 4000 with 128mb DDR would work, but would it really be an upgrade over a Radeon 7500 with 64mb. ? :?: :?:
July 22, 200421 yr did you up the voltage to your vid card in the bios? well the fx series i guess could be called Geforce 5's but the GF 4 series should work fine. you may not have enough total power i nyour system
July 22, 200421 yr It is a different standard that uses 1.5 volts instead of the 3.3 of the older cards is what he is referring to.If you can find a GF4TI4200. That should work. They are 2x, 4x, 8x, AGP compatable.I know this for a fact b/c I ran several on my Abit BE62 which is an old Slot one Pentium2 motherboard.Although one brand did not work. Cannot remember which one.I would goto Newegg and get a refurbed 4200 with a 4x AGP. Then you know for sure that it will work.

I found a GeForce MX 4000 128MB DDR AGP on the Best Buy website for $79.99. Would that work as well?
July 23, 200421 yr It would not be much better than what you have. If it says AGP 2x compatable then yes it would work. I would still go here. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-122-144R&type=Refurbish Get this instead.
July 23, 200421 yr Author Look at this one http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-122-191R&type=Refurbish it says 2x/4x/8x it looks like a beast of a card too
July 23, 200421 yr The GF4 Ti4200 was one of the best video cards for the longest time having clocks up to par with higher end cards during the first run of radeon 9000 series and the GF FX series cards. Get the Ti4200 you wont regret it, and you might want to consider the 64mb verson because the memory clock speeds are higher. I ran a GF4 Ti4200 64MB AGP 8x for the longest time and it runs great.
July 23, 200421 yr Author Click on the link and see the video card I'm currently considering. It supports AGP 2x it says in "Bus" section. http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-122-191R&type=Refurbish But the real question now is, How about a 9200 for a PCI? Some guy from Best Buy said that the PCI 9200 128mb. would work with my computer.
July 23, 200421 yr Never get a PCI card unless you have NO AGP slot. They are horrible for FPS and FPS. If the 5700LE does not work just return it.
July 23, 200421 yr Yes. FPS = Frames per secondFPS = First person shooters. They do not do both well. The PCI bus bandwidth is HORRIBLE compared to AGP 2x. The V-card is extremely limited by this and cannot do well as a result.Mac
July 23, 200421 yr Author I'm unsure about that newegg site because of risks involved with buying things from them. I don't want a broken card.My choice is between a 9600XT or a 5700LE?Which is better?
July 23, 200421 yr Author I found two good ones that would work but I'm not sure which one to get they are Radeon 9600XT DDR 128mb. 1x/2x/4x/8x or nVIDIA 5700LE DDR 256mb. 2x/4x/8x Is it even worth the risk getting a refurbished card?
July 24, 200421 yr Author NO ATI. Get the 5700. Mac The only reason why I was considering the ATI 9600XT was that it supported AGP 1x/2x/4x/8x
July 24, 200421 yr ya, but you wouldnt get the best possible performance out of the card, need a slighlty better ustem for that
July 24, 200421 yr Author Ok , thanks for all your help. I'm gonna get this card. Hopefully it will work fine.
