I have played the game and it looks great but I dont like that type of game. If you like real type weapons you most likely will not like this game. If you are into the space/monster thing then you will love it.
I dunno Statecop, the game is very repitiive and annoying. Even if you do go for that kind of thing, spmething like Serious Sam was far more fun. Oh look, once again I cant see, there is the obligatory weak monster trying to get my attention.... I turn around...what a surprise, the wall disapeared and the nasty monster is trying to sneak attack me. It might have been cool if this wasn't the 100th time it happened.
LMAOthat is very true orion, except it took me a long time to figure that out :Pit still is a pretty good game i guess, however, after beating it, i felt like it was missing something

ya, and actually the weak enemies usually sawrm, not distract you, and either way the game still makes serious sam look like nothing
That game sounds so cool. I am more into "how smooth looking graphics can I get" games. This game looks great, and if HL2 ever comes out, snicker snicker, then I might be able to say the same. But even the 1000th time a headcrab jumps in my face, it is still scary. As long as I feel like I am in controll and making progress that is how I enjoy games, not the difficulty. Difficult thing will make it repeative to have to do the level over again. Oh, and nice win. That is what a true battle should be. When your adreniline is pumping and you are destroying something much greater than yourself, and then walk out of it with almost no health left to fight another.
I like Serious Sam, not becuase its scary or anything but because its fun. But Doom 3 looks great and all but im not a fan of going though a level and having every mob drop down from the roof, or outta a hole and just go Ta Da and be there. I liked SS because it was a challenge also, soooo much stuff to kill. Btw i only played the First Serious Sam. I got it back in the day at a Lan party. It was the only game i got to run on my P2 450 with 384mb ram and a Geforce232mb and it ran great even with hundreds of things on my screen.
I just started playing this game and so far I seem to find it exciting. I still have much more to play and see, but this game keeps the adrenaline pumping. Has anyone tried a multiplayer game. Somewhere earlier I heard a rumor that the servers would only allow 4 players, but I seen a 20 player server when looking at a list of servers. I haven't tried yet but normally this type of game I would not be interested in it for the multiplayer due to the fact that I normally like real life war combat. I like games such as Doom3 for the single player action.
If they can get the server count up to 32 I might buy it. Just not into single player games anymore.

check the mod section at planetdoom i think theres a 32 player mod under misc
Thanks JasunLooks like I might be buying it after all. Do you think having that many players will really slow the FPS concedering the computer resources to uses already?
I have no idea yet, I'll have to find a 32 player server and check it out... I did read that they don't use a peer multiplayer type anymore its client / server now so i'm inclined to lean twards not much change in FPS.. although i'm sure there will be a bit of a drop when you get into a hell of a firefight but thats the same in almost any game.. This game is also designed to run on older systems with little to no problems so i'm thinking it won't be too bad.. check the system requirements on planetdoom maybe read some forums and such see what others think.. sorry i can't be more help.
I bought Doom 3 today, it doesnt run as well as i would like it (Dam you Pos GeforceFX5200!!!) but even on the lowest graphic settings it looks nice. Havnt played it much only about 2 hrs or so, but i like Serious sam better so far, mostly because im only taking on a few things, not the hoards that i did in SS.

serious sam was a game that was nice, but really falls into the merely okay range
Well, all done, and now uninstalled until some decent mods come out for it.No, it is not as fun as Serious Sam. It feels more like an Unreal game then an Id game, though the graphics are, of course, incredible. It will make a nice engine for another Aliens vs Predator game, and hopefully we'll see another Jedi game on it. Oh, and maybe Raven Soft will make another Hexen game using this engine :o Squee, there are alot of things you can do to increase performance by changing some things in the configuration file.
Sniff, sniff... I think i am the only one you hasnt the game yet. The game is available now in Switzerland (11th of August) and i will have it tomorrow. I think it will keep me away sometime from playing fa. But i think nobody will miss me.. Sniff.. Sniff..
