Thinking about updating to XP SP2? If so read!

thats so stupid, media playrs and burners of mine may or may not work now
Guys, it's an optional pack. You know what will/won't work now, so it's up to you to decide if you want that patch. Naturally, the answer will be No. If you don't like it, Don't download and use it.
But I should say I like it so far. XP seems to run smother. And I havn't noticed any problems with my online games.
And actually, if you read the whole thing it says "programs that may behave differently". After reading just a little of it, it appears that its mostly related to programs needing internet access for multiplayer and whatnot, and that its fixable, and works in a way similar to zone alarm if your familiar with that. TFD
what makes these programs not work Word XP Microsofthow do they exclude XP word?
IMO if you don't want it, then don't download it. If your interested but scared then image your drive and restore if it don't work out. There is no way that even Microsoft can know how the updates will effect every software available. They have done what they can to supply a list of common software already that might not work right. Some software has been updated already due to SP2. If the software company doesn't exist or update a particular program anymore you know that it will eventually die in the future unless you keep an older computer around. It would probably be best to find a more modern alternative. Why play on the Atari when you can play on a PS2.
also most of the versions that may experience problems are quite outdated versions of the apps
so basically, all useful programs dont work or may not work... smooooth MS, real smoooooth
I don't have any programs on there (well, besides WarcraftIII Reign of Chaos Collectors Edition, but it says v1.0 next to it and I don't got that version)is it worth updating???
you prolly wont have many problems with sp2 as long as you keep your software up to date
