I wince everytime I see someone kick above the waist... it is generally suicide in a real, chaotic fight because you'll be knocked off balance.I find there is too much emphasis on looks in today's martial arts training. If you look, for example, at traditional Karate katas, you will never see a kick that is delivered to anything higher then the Inguinal Region (place where the leg joins the torso). Another thing I get annoyed at is martial art instructors emphasizing accuracy over power. In a real "intent to harm fight", your accuracy isn't going to help you as much because things are messy and it is not feasible that every blow you land will be classroom perfect. High powered blows into "generally" weak regions is what will save your butt.
