Posted August 27, 200421 yr http://news.com.com/Windows+update+harbors+AMD+conflict/2100-1016_3-5326707.html?tag=nefd.top it pretty much says that AMD's 64 bit CPUs may not be compatible with Service Pack 2. anyone encounter any problems yet? the article stated that AMD 64 cpu owners should bypass install of the service pack.
August 27, 200421 yr opppsI have SP2 and havent seen a problem yet. Not sure what to tell you....I will research this more. I havent seen a big help by going to SP2 so if you dont just feel that you need it I wouldnt get it right now.
August 27, 200421 yr Author I only installed it on my intel cpu laptop, so I have not install on my amd64 and have nothing to report. I've heard from a couple other people with these cpu's that have not experienced any problems so far.
August 27, 200421 yr SP2 Sucks from what I heard.2 guys at work. (Not gamers) Had their computers crash unrecoverally from SP2. One was a Dell and the other a HP.Go MS.
August 27, 200421 yr Could be that DELL and HP used VLKs that got blacklisted.. I heard that SP2 will write over the boot sector of any computer with a blacklisted key(which includes many from large retailers). You have to call the retailer to get a proper key I think...
August 28, 200421 yr No problems for me either. Seems like a decent release. Then again, I don't have a 64-bit processor, so it doesn't matter what I say.
