I love VALVe. They're my heroes. I've never had a problem with Steam with the games that VALVe has a hand in. Truth be told, I think the problem may be poor support for Third Party games, since CS or DoD have never crashed on me. Other than that, Steam is flawless, IMO.

No, steam has a BUNCH of things wrong with it. They also screwed up, big time, with steam. With HL, a 300Mhz computer could run HL. With steam, a 1.4 is laggy. For a game that's 7/8 years old, that is simply unacceptable. VALVe would've gotten my thanks if - and only if - not only they would've done a semi-decent job with steam (they messed up on sooo many different things...); and also if they didn't "accidently" leave a computer with internal access into their dev department, and more importantly, their ENTIRE dev department. Doesn't make any sense to me

I have never played HL or neither do i intend to play HL. I only got into FA coz i got bored one day after school and found that my Brother downloaded FA so i thought id give it a bash.As for the hundreds of new FA players...you gotta be kidding. The fact is its the same players using different names. My friend has used 36 different names in 2 weeks  , that chances are there are others liek him.

i signed the petition because i still like half life and half life 2 is gonna be great, plus i had a lot of problems with WON cause of my firewall. i think steam is still good because i can usually play without getting kicked, and even if i do i can get back in. all of the pre-loading for games and the counter strike source beta was nice, and i think valve does deserve a big thank you :)

so I presume you ran Steam on a 400mhz computer right?

I ran it on 800mhz up until last month, and it ran awesome on that.

and they messed up so many different things eh? Name em off.

"sooo many different things." That's not like you, Huhn. You usually give concrete evidence and not something vague like that.

And I've never had problems with CS or DoD or any game on the main games list. Most problems come from the Third Party games and those problems are rare and resolved with just restarting Steam. From what I've seen, most of the issues with Steam are minor. If they had done a "semi-decent" job, I would expect to see a lot more people complaining. Too be honest, I think they did a spectacular job. Plus, the netcode for Steam is much better than the old netcode of WON. I haven't noticed any performance drops with my games and I connect and play faster than I did with WON and I'm still using the same computer.
