Is it possible to protect one's ip address from being seen when you simply read someone's web pages ?It has come to my attention this is being done by some sites and i don't like the idea of them seeing and recording ip addresses of all that simply read their pages. A possible security and/or privacy issue.

You would not be able to hide your external ip(the one your isp provides you) , because then browsing web pages would not work otherwise. You must protect yourself in other ways. Antivirus will protect you from viruses, scripts, and trojans. A firewall is a must these days which will block most ports not in use.

Yes you can hide your ip address.. but its more hassle then it is worth... some isps have a proxy for their customers to use.. not many but you can hide your ip by useing one. there are some proxys you can pay to use, keep in mind that there are problems with useing them as well such as your speeds being slower.. proxys being shared by people who abuse them get those proxys banned from websites.. this is pretty much more of a pain in the butt then its worth..
